Return to the Valley that time forgot. The complete campaign
« on: January 16, 2008, 07:47:07 PM »
Hi,

This is my first post and first of all, sorry for my bad English.

Two weeks ago we played the two first scenes of the "Return to the Valley that time forgot", the second part of a game that was played one year ago... I post some pictures of the game.

The first scene was in an African village, where the players had to recluit some porters, etc. and could find some encounters that could give them some advantages (like better guides, amulets...) or recruit secondary characters, or disadvantages. There were no main villains, as the goal was to feel the mood of the adventure and collect the markers (there were 12 possible encounters and only 8 markers). The scene ended when they find out that someone tries to saboteur their equipment. Ah, and a rival expedition has departured two days ago.

Some members of the expedition trying to recruit the porters.

One of the encounters that ocurred was that some "white-slavers" tried to kidnap a girl, that was rescued. This girl was a biologist that was added to the expedition as a seconday character.

Someone saboteurs their equipment. They had to save as much as possible before the flames ruin the equipment. Thas was no easy because they were scattered on the board.

They were not be able to save all the equipment. This had consequences on the second scenes (as they disposed of less recourses to pay the porters, guides, etc).

The picture of the expedition completed, that ended the first scene!!!

The second scene starts when the expedition is arriving by boat to the entrance to the Valley, and are hunted by some natives that are trying to stop them. The goal was simple: enter the Valley.

The pursuit...

The natives catch the boat, but is fiercely defended by a loyal (and drunk) guide that was contracte in the Village (as was the donkey).

The final picture of the second scene, as the natives are rejected. There were hippos, crocs and monkeys too.

I have planned 5 more scenes, incluiding the hunting of dinnosaurs, being captured by the native people of the Valley, the finding of the ruins of a lost civilization and that it has inhabitants too (Conquest pygmis, but they were zombified by Glaaki, a Cthulhu's Mithos deity that inhabit in the central lake of the city). And finally, the escape through the lava caverns of the infamous volcan...

Regards!
Fernando

Fantastic looking game, and your English is excellent. The buildings and figures are great and I really like the use of the flames.

Excellent set up and some great ideas for the adventure. The recruiting of porters is great. I'll have to remember that one.

The canoes look to me like the John Jenkins ones, available in the UK from TMTerrain. I have some of those. Might be wrong but they look the same.

Great pics. Good looking game. Welcome aboard, Fernando.  :)

Many thanks for posting this, it's very inspirational! In particular, I love "completeness" of the games. Every miniature and every bit of terrain looks well-made and no corners have been cut. It's the kind of thing that inspires a guy like me to continue with my own stuff.

Great stuff!  I like the idea of having the encounters only, to set the mood of the game.  Excellent pictures and figs - you need to post more often!

love the figures, painiting and scenery.  Really nice collection you have there.
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....
