By Fire & Sword AAR - "First taste of battle"

Got to play my first real game of By Fire & Sword this weekend. Had been looking forward to it like crazy, and I know many of the readers of my blog also anticipated the game and the pictures that would follow.

It was my Polish cavalry and dragoons with some borrowed German mercenary infantry and Reiters against William's Turkish army made up of Siphai Guards, Deli riders, Gönnülu light cavalry and artillery.

We played some ad-hoc regiment organizations as we did not have fully fledged out regiments to make "legal" forces. But I grouped everything together and added a commander per improvised regiment - so we ended up with roughly a small division (4 regiments) per side. And it worked out quite well. The most important thing at this point was to try out the rules and have fun.  Which I think we both had.  It also inspired a couple of fellow gamers from my Flames of War group to order miniatures and get into the game as well :-)

Anyway, there are some 50+ pictures from the game as well as a summary of the action on my blog:

Not  a strong historical period for me (I mean, no planes, no Spanish, no (any kind/color/ethnicity) Americans,) but I like the sound of the game.  And every war gamer likes pictures!

I hope your game group continues to grow and you have lots of opponents for the table.

Gracias,

Glenn

Very sweet figures and terrain.
Its always neat to have everything come together for the first battle.
Well done.

Thanks guys, looks like the game attracted some new players among our FoW gaming group. Hopefully the number of active player will grow over this coming month, as well as the number of games played  :)
