Wow! Well that really finishes the unit off Richard!  :-*

I have some Games of War boats too and I totally agree, they are wonderful pieces.

Excellent, looking forward to seeing these in action. I'll do my best to sink them for you. ;)

They really are rather nice. I've been tempted by those Games of War boats before. You make them look even more appealing.

Thanks gents  :)

I'm looking forward to getting them into action...
I might actually buy a couple more too. They're a lot more convincing (and capacious) than my dear old Ainsty rowing boats!

Just wondering..
If a ship sends a landing party ashore, seamen accompanied by a Lt. And a body of marines accompanied by a Lt. Which officer will be in charge of the party,is there a seniority question here,or does the ship's captain nominate a party leader,or am I just reading too much into this ?
Just a thought who will be the leader 1 Big man in a SP2 game  :)

Cheers
Keith

What seems right to me is....

Whilst at sea the Lt of the Seaman is in charge, as soon as boots hit solid ground it should be the Marine Lt.
Of course, this could lead to all sorts of wonderful arguments whilst they are all standing in the surf.

A Royal Naval Lieutenant's rank is equivalent to the rank of Captain in the Army or Royal Marines. The Naval Lieutenant would be the senior officer and hence in charge of the combined detachment whether on land or at sea or even in an hot air balloon. If the Naval Lieutenant had any common sense and trusted the Marine Lieutenant's judgement he would frequently consult with that officer regarding operations ashore. The only exception likely to occur is if the Captain of the ship the detachment was from had given specific orders that the Bootneck was in charge upon landing, but that is unlikely scenario.

It is.
 :)

But I prefer the 'other' option.
Perfect for a 'co-operative' game at BLAM.

Obrigado  :)

It's my usual recipe for weathered timber - Vallejo khaki (70.988) mixed with a dash of black for the base drybrush coat. Then gradual successive small quantities of white added to the mix for subsequent dry brush coats. Until the topmost highlight is a very pale greenish grey indeed.
Washed with a very thinned wash of Army Painter 'Strong Tone' ink.

Then a bit of judicious distressing /  weathering using AK Interactive's 'Light rust deposits' and 'Streaking grime'.

...and just before someone chimes in to tell me that the Royal Navy would never allow their boats to get into such a terrible condition - I know that. They're just toys and I like the lived-in effect. Thank you ;)
