ECW with the new Pike & Shotte Rules
« on: April 22, 2012, 09:22:48 AM »
A friend has picked up the RB for me from Salute although i can't get my hands on them until later

I've dusted off my, sadly underused, 30YW/ECW Parliamentarian army used previously for WECW[WAB] and the unpainted figures i have for this

A clubmate, an ardent Royalist, is well up for this and another has a huge 30YW army, or two

I'm planning on running my pike-blocks in 24s with 2 x 12 sleeves of Shotte as my 16 fig pikes never looked right to me. Cavalry in 8 (or12) fig squadrons, depending on how much cavalry we want to put out in the games. Playability over aesthetics?

My infantry is multi-based, 4 x figs on a 40x40mm basing

I have painted (albeit that i need to bump up the infantry numbers as planned):

3 x Infantry Regiments
3 x Med/Hvy Cavalry
1 x Dragoons
1 x Cuirass [Early War]
2 x Artillery

To paint:

3 x Infantry Regiments
1 x Med/Hvy Cavalry
2 x Artillery

I'm looking forward to this, should be fun if Black Powder is anything to go by

Who else is doing this?

I would certainly like too, ECW has always been a back burner project though (not having anyone near by to play with  :( ).

Let's us know what the book is like when you get your hands on it  :)

I had my set ordered from Amazon, suddenly Warlord seemed to have pulled them from their catalogue!!!!!

Ordered the P&S book.  Have a pile of Warlord plastics to work on for a TYW Army.

Luckily WECW was always popular arround here so I can hopefully find some marooned WH opponents.
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

I'll welcome some feedback when you get your copies : I'm officially curious. My only niggle about the rules is that they might potentially be a little too 'gamey' for my taste - i.e that the specificity of C17th warfare might get lost in the process of creating a fast-playing game.

My order was pulled too... maybe it was something to do with it being far cheaper on Amazon. Okay I know it was from comments I've picked up elsewhere.

I'd say, after reading the rules, that its 95% BlackPowder with some interesting twists, some less so i.e Hedgehog and Caracole

My interest in the book is only ECW (30YW at a pinch) but i can't say that i'm thrilled how the lists are dealt with at first sight.

Still, we're going to give it a go a few times before we start straying from the rules as written

First game in a week or so 500 - 700 pts
