Zombie ruleset?
« on: April 09, 2012, 08:52:23 PM »
Hello,

I'm looking for a scenario-driven ruleset that is easy to learn and would allow you to field large (increasing?) numbers of Zombies. (No, it got nothing to do with those 15mm Khurasan zombies... :P)

Who can help?

Cheers
Jase

Hm, All Things Zombie is kind of scenario driven, is easy to learn... And it has increasing number of zombies!

I worked on my own one a year ago, based on Necromunda.
We had large zombie spawns and special zombies who forced further spawning.

I could link you to it, though the thread I made it in is a mess.

Of course if you don't know Necromunda rules, well.
If you'd like an apocalyptic monster in 28mm, throw me a PM and I'll think it over.

My favourite - having played *lots* of zombie rules over the years - remain Ambush Z from Ambush Alley Games:http://ambushalleygames.com/products/store/product/show/cid-5/name-ambush-z/category_pathway-0

If you want fast, simple, easy to teach zombie rules, you can try the FREE and EXCELLENT AKULA'S rules:

http://akulasrules.blogspot.mx/2011/01/akulas-rules-skirmish-edition-arse.html

These are generic rules, and has a mechanism to get more and more zombies each round if you so desire with "Zombie spawn points".

It even considers several "special" zombies with special activation and effects (fast, tank, howler, horde).

But please note that AKULA don't explain everything in his rules ON PURPOSE, in order to keep them short and simple (just 2 pages), so a little experimentation may be needed.

Fortunately Akula is a member of this very forum so you can ask him directly if needed (I did).

I have tryed his rules and really delivers the "zombie survival" feel with simple and elegant mechanics, even an inexperienced player can grasp after just a few minutes.

Hope that helps.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

You could try Dead Walk Again (and it is free) :

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/deadwalkagain/

You have the core rules, a Left 4 Dead supplement and a campaign (scenario driven this time).

Just halve the distance to play with 15mm miniatures as the game was designed for 28mm miniatures.
I wish I were an octopus to paint more miniatures...Cthulhu must be a great painter

Ganesha Games feature Zombies in their Fear & Faith rules, also there's a Zombie Use Me set ( Zombie Dawn? ) available from 15mm.com.

Hi
I echo the good stuff people have said about Ambush Z because it links in nicely with modern and sci rules that are easy enough to play.

If you are looking for something a bit more cinematic look at 7ombie TV by crooked dice. Very nice.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm going to check them all out and see which one I like best.

Now all I have to do is wait for Khurasan to release their zombies...

We really need a sticky for zombie rulesets, this topic seems to come up fairly regularly.
