A Battlewagons Tiger - Wittmann in Normandy
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:21:16 PM »
I am doing Tiger with Zimmerit, number 007, Michael Wittmann to go with the two Sherman Fireflies I am doing at present.

They use Solido hulls with my own cast AFV tools and scratch built bits (Oh and a Warlord MG and commander)

Here are a few WIP shots - should be finished for Salute.

Why don't you use the BAM Wittmann & Tiger I? The tank you use looks a little bit odd to me... maybe when painted  ;)

I like diecast metal! Not so keen on resin.

I think it will look fine when painted, fools and bairns and all that.

Sorry to be a geek but - there was no zimmermit on the turret bin of Tiger 007. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4a/Wittmann_Tiger_007.jpg

Plus remember that 007 was a late production model command Tiger I (so it has the extra aerial) and not the one he used at at Villers Bocage - which was 212 - a regular Tiger preferred for the extra ammo.  In fact (depending on the sources believed) that Wittman only ever used 007 the day he ws killed.

You are absolutely right about the zimmerit. Checked my reference book and the bin is indeed zimmerit -less.

I still have bits to do, but thanks for the guidance on the extra antenna/command version.

Your geekness is a credit to you, and indeed why I put the photos on. The depth of knowledge available here is inspiring.

Took the zimmerit off the turret bin and added the antennae.

Just the rest of the cables to do now.

thanks
