Scheltrum Salute Releases
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:38:59 AM »
Dear All,

Sholto (the owner of Scheltrum) has asked me to inform you guys of his new releases for Salute. They are further German November Revolution figues and vehicles, however some stuff also spills over into the Baltic States and Poland.

Miniatures:

-Volksmarine HMG and crew
-Loyal Sailors shooting
-Loyal Sailors advancing
-Freikorps Cavalry
-Polish POW Militia
-Latvian Peasant Militia
-Revolutionary Gun Crew (mixture of Volksmarine and militia)

There will also be 16 new vehicles:

-Russ-Balt lorry
-Geffery (or Jeffery depending on the historical source) Poplakov A/C (1916)
-Russian Packhard armoured AA truck (1914)
-Naval Model T Ford A/C (1917)
-Benz lorry
-German Improvised armoured personnel carrier (based on Daimler Marienfelde)
-"RIBALDINI" German improvised armour truck with turreted revolving AA gun (saw action in Leipzig 1919/20)
-German armoured and turreted half track
-Peugeot armoured car (37 mm canon or Hotchkis MMG) (1918)
-Belgian Auto Canon Mors (37 mm canon or Hotchkis MMG) - one saw action with the Freikorps as "RAUDI"
-Peerless armoured AA truck (1915)
-Estonian Arsenal Crossley A/C (1926)
-Polish Ford FT/B A/C (1920)
-"KRESOWIEC" Polish improvised armoured car based on agricultural tractor (1919)
-"JOSEF PILSUDSKI" Polish improvised A/C fully skirted (1919)
-"POWSTANIEC" Polish improvised armoured truck. Thought by some to be the basis of the rumour that the Poles used captured A7V tanks

Also the existing Russo-Balt armoured and soft-skinned Flak wagons are now available without the guns for use as ammunition carriers or general purpose movers at a reduced price. And the Ehrhard is finally also available.

Sholto hopes to see many of you at Salute.

All sorts of goodness in that list!

Although given that I'm on the wrong side of the world for Salute, and the Scheltrum website still doesn't list the original releases in their Interwar range AFAIK, I won't hold my breath.

But pics from Salute would be awesome!

Just back from Salute.  Have added prices.  and here's three (bad) pics.

Bought myself the 1st Polish armoured division, which consisted of two vehicles, the bizarre looking armoured tractor (three wheels, with one at the front) and the fully skirted armoured car.  Good solid casts, with a bit of flash that needs trimming. Sholto keeps going where no other manufacturer dares to tread, so should be supported.

Enjoy!

Still no Freikorps Werdenfels.

 :(

Seriously though the Freikorps troops and equipment list is fantastic!  I need to get painting on the last batch that I ordered and place a new order!

Wirelizard,

The original list is on their website.
http://www.scheltrum.co.uk/se28.html

It's under the list "Shattered Empires".  It took me a little while to find it when I first looked.

I had a good look at the new stuff and must admit I am sorely tempted.

"Ribaldini", to my mind, very closely resembles a Russian modified Pierce Arrow armoured truck. The Russian version has the turret displayed on the Ribaldini model, although it was armed with a 57mm and not the gatling type weapon featured on the model.

The Germans appear to have captured at least 2 of these - both rearmed with a 77mm. One fought in Latvia under the name "Titanic" before being captured and renamed Viesturs. It was still in service with the Latvian Army in 1940.

The second appears to have served with the reds in the 1919 uprising in Berlin. It is pictured with German sailors inside Schloss Berlin and has two MG08s on pintle mounts at the rear of the vehicle.

There is a picture of a similar vehicle in Freikorps colours with MG08s in the rear sponsons also in Berlin. I am not sure if this is the same vehicle as that used by the Reds or another one.

I must admit that I know nothing about Ribaldini, its use in Leipzig, or its strange gstling gun type turret armament, so any info greatly received
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Yeah me too - the good folks at Scheltrum really need to be a little more internet savvy and sort out their website. I have no doubt that a little expenditure in redesigning the site would pay handsome dividends.
