Prometheus - LV-426 revisited
« on: April 26, 2012, 08:31:14 AM »
As we all know the latest and possibly greatest film in the whole Alien saga arrives in a month or so's time, so in order to get ahead, ive sort of time shifted my own LV426 project ( everybody on here seems to have one ) to take into account the newest offering from Sir R.

http://www.projectprometheus.com/

Oh, and unlike one of Cm. Vyper's projects, strictly 28mm please.

So, first up, suggestions for stand-in's for the following:

"

the RT01 TRANSPORT, the preferred surface transport of the crew of Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" (launching June 8th). Comes with all the bells and whistles you could ask for when you're on the desolate surface of a newly-discovered planet in a distant solar system: Integrated Bio-Nomic Telecom Unit, Reinforced Touchscreen Blast-Shield, Carbon Matter Sensors, you name it. No mission to find the origin of mankind is complete without the smooth Split Axle Suspension of the the RT01, and your crew will feel marginally protected behind the Titanium-Alloy Coated Armor of the vehicle

Im thinking Old Crow?

Or Ainsty?

And for the suits.. East Riding?

As for the Space Jockey's, well, we will just have to wait and see, but from whats out there on the net already, looks like the new film will have plenty of gaming potential....

Best bet for the vehicle might be a diecast fire engine - the sort they use for airports....

The Old Crow looks a bit more like the one pictured. Cool project!

Make a change from the tug things they use to move aeroplanes around....
And BTW, loved your board at Salute last week, but its a great shame that project took over from your own LV-426 one.... Any chance that will be back online soon??

I forgot that one...

If only Ian could produce it with 8 wheels instead of six?

How about it Ian?

If you're looking for 8 wheels you could always try this without the turret:

I look forward to watching this project progress.

Cobalt figures would work as the space-men.

I second Cobalt for the suits:

The one on the right looks a lot like the original Moebius/Jean Giraud concept art for Alien.
Otherwise, the Security Troops in Bio Suits with metal helmet-canopies would do for more variation.

edit: those Blue Moon figs look pretty good. Arent they by the same sculptor as Cobalt?

Bob Naismith in both cases, I think.

My other projects, including Aliens, Battlestar Galactica, and Vietnam will all be back on schedule now that Salute is out of the way - I'll still be looking to add more figures to the WW1 Fantasy project, but building the terrain physically took up all my table space.

How about ths one from Fenris.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marauder-LSV-command-vehicle-resin-kit-/380192453677?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item58853c742d

Have to second that one, (sorry never saw this thread first off). The Marauder with no radar or turret is perfect.

Glad I convinced him to cast that old project up I have to say.

If you wanted eight wheels I know Ian does have the tooling to do a 'cut and shut' if you asked him I reckon? Pray for a miscast body and you wouldn't have to fork out for two.

Re Space Jockey's there are already 'esque' heads out there, puppets of war I think have a bride of promethus head set, not sure what you'd use for the body, maybe 54mm with plenty of gs? Navarro could knock a biosuit up for you I reckon.

Cheers

Just found this thread.

I think the Blue moon figs would work well. They are 15mm correct?

I just can't imagine how this will play as a game?
What will be the object of the game? will it be just survival?
No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck.

The ones Daysman linked to are 28mm.
