My Dust Repaints
« on: April 28, 2012, 12:25:31 AM »
Recently got a horde of Dust Stuff off of the 'bay just in time for Dust Warfare. Started repainting with the allied stuff. Finally went with an autumnal feel for the bases.

Also now gives me a way to go with my Tactics/Warfare tiles :D

I keep meaning to buy the core rules and try Dust Tactics, is the game any good?

A good fun game (and I mean game!). Rules are very simple but effective. Best thing is the game has really good support and with the recent release of Dust Warfare and the upcoming SSU troops means another faction is being added to the mix.

The walker is beautiful. Can you tell us more about the techniques you used to paint it (rust effects and so on) ?
I wish I were an octopus to paint more miniatures...Cthulhu must be a great painter

No real secrets I'm afraid! I don't use pigments or the like!

Chips were done by brush using a dark gray with a bit of silver if big enough. Rust was done using cheap acrylic raw umber thinned to a wash.

Oil was just thinned black.

Devlan Mud is the secret to the depth, apply liberally bUt then clean from large open panel with a cotton bud to prevent pooling.

Than you for sharing.  :D
No expensive fancy materials, just good old traditional painting techniques, but very effective.  :-*

Thanks...just airbrush then, no masking technique for rust.

Did you remove the existing decals before painting ?
