Help - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
« on: April 30, 2012, 02:45:02 PM »
Hi there - I'm a GW exile who has wandered into the land of LA in much ignorance. For my first project I want to create the 1890s LoEG however I'm frankly lost when it comes to the dozens of independent model sites on the web. I was wondering if anyone could guide me in the right direction?

Looking for models to represent Miss Mina Murray, a lady in Edwardian dress should do; old Allan Quartermain, simply a big game hunter; Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde so a sheepish bookworm and a gorilla man basically!; Captain Nemo, a Sikh Prince; Hawley Griffin aka the Invisible Man - for this I'm more interested in a bandaged figure, and possibly a might make a 'naked' version, with footprints and maybe a discarded pile of clothes.

And help much appreciated,
Mr. Jape

Mr Jape; There are plenty of options out there for that subject, but Ironclad do pretty much all that you have listed and more.
Take a look at this lot and see what you think:

Welcome from the dark side to the light :P ha ha ha.
As for figures, Eurika Miniatures do some ladies in Victorian dress that might be of use as miss Harker. Check there Pax Limpopo range, it should give you a few ideas as well for Dr Jekyll and Alan Quatermain .

As for Mr Hyde check out Wyrd Miniatures Semus avatar

Just a few of the top of my head for you, hope they help.

I do suggest a use of the search bar to your left.

Ah ha! Yes, moments after I posted I also noticed the 'related threads' at the bottom of the page. Feel a fool. Apologies.

Unless you post a thread with a particular title, there's nothing for the related threads to swarm around though. So you're like a League of Extraordinary Gentleman-attractor, or something.

A LoEG's boson, perhaps?

I have the Ironcald figures and they're very nice, my one "complaint" is that Mina dress is a bit low cut, but this can easily be remedied.

Check Reaper for their Invisible Man - The best figure of this type out there in my opinion.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I think he might be a little modern in dress for the 1890s... but that could easily be changed with a top-hat!

So many responses - thank you all, plenty to explore.

Hat Guy: I agree - I'm having trouble finding suitable model based on the comics - all Victorian ladies are either old frumps or revealing far too much skin for Mina Murray, or, well let's be frank, any real woman of the time outside the most ancient of profession. Still I think the ironclad mini with minor conversion could just do the job.

Melnibonean: I agree with Christian his dress doesn't fit the 1890s, however for those on the fora truly smitten with the Leagueverse you must admit it makes an excellent mini for Dr. Peter Bradey of the doomed 1940s 'Surrogate League'. Frankly I'm keen on not only doing the 1890s League but its 1910 successor, as well as France's Hommes Mysterieux, Germany's Zwielichthelden, and perhaps the 1940s imposters and the earlier groups. Not to mention a Masonic MI5 force led by Moriarty, Fu Manchu's Tong and Dr. Moreau's children's book inspired horrors. Really Moore and O'Neill's world allows endless possible mash-ups of fiction and history.

Jonas: That is a lovely figure, get's Mr. Griffin's not so shy attitude across perfectly as well. I'll do a search. Thank you.

Regards,
Mr. Jape
