My most realistic wargame ever
« on: May 07, 2012, 11:07:33 AM »
I played the Blues Bears 'A needle in a Haystack of Oceans' PPG at Carronade on Saturday.

The scenario is a costal command Wellington patrol designed to spot U boats, enemy shipping with the possiblity of air to air combat against JU88s or a Condor.

On my patrol all I saw was a passing Wellington returning from patrol.

99.9% of these patrols saw no enemy activity, so it was highly realistic ;)

Sounds dreadfully boring  :?

Reminds me of a story that my buddy Thomas told me when he played some WW2 skirmish game that had super realistic rules and each turn represented something like 1 second - they played for 3 hours and the only thing that happened was that a British soldier looked up above a hedge and tried to take a shot at a German and missed him  lol

For me realism has to be incorporated in a way to still make for a fun game experience. It is a game after all.
