Yes, both really well done.

Chambers, what company produces those sea creatures? I like the way you did the bases, good compromise for use on water or land.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

They are "Bog Trog Ambushers" from the Minions faction from Hordes?

Thanks! For whatever reason, I'm totally unfamiliar with Warmachine and Hordes miniatures.

What a pair of excellently painted entries  :-*
Wonderful rust effects Jan.

All magnificent, but the sailors, especially so.  Wonderful tones... Determined looking British tars, that's what I like to see  :)

Not an easy choice, both are beautiful.

Great paint job Lt.Hazel, I have been eying these for a short while, nice skin tones and rust effects. Could share the technique with us all?

Thank you all for the kind words.

These are on temp bases and are in the process of  rebasing to the DS style for an ongoing commission.

Great job both of you!

@Chambers: I really enjoy seeing your paintjobs in a "proper" environment much more than with a clean background. And what a stunning backdrops they are  :-*

That applies to both entries

I knew I had no chance when I saw your entry, great work on the minis and nice set up for the bonus theme! I don´t feel ashamed to loose against such a great painter!
The rust effect is done with acrylics and oil colour washes, straight and simple. Use reddish browns and orange acrylics and stipple it on, afterwards wash with thinned orange oil colour to create the stripes.
