I'm often reluctant to recommend films, especially horror films.
But perhaps 'Ravenous' might give you a few ideas?

The Mexican War setting could be easily changed with the American Civil War.

I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Why don't you all contact Wendy and Andy at Westwind and see if a colonial supplement is in the works?

Worth a go surely. If there isn't then at least they see the interest for one.

Just had one more inspiration: How about Mountain Men as stand ins for the Wolf Skins in the Werewolf band? Or maybe Plains Indians?

What would be a good stand in for the Brotherhood faction? Abolitionists? Maybe with John Brown as a personality figure? Trying to think what would work for games set slightly later--like the 1880s as well...

Indians would be purfect, espeicaly if the Werewolfs are not allowed to use guns.
As for brotherhood, I was thinking ether an american chapter of the order, or useing crazed mormen off shoots. Oh and were are you located at? I live just moved to the concored area of SF, also the guys that will be hosting the kubl game will be doing it on saturday.
At least thats what they told me.

I plan (to recycle terrain) to have Horror in Northern Chihuahua state of Mexico thru Santa Fe (now, New Mexico,) in the 1840's.

It's all good IMO.

Gracias,

Glenn

I love ravenous! And I think "The Union" of the dead would be pretty cool, the only resin  I didn't say Republic because they might save that name for a book set in France.

Are people familiar with Deadlands, in particular the Great Rail Wars minis game?

The idea is that someone summons the four horsemen of the apocalypse, who, among other things, cause a massive earthquake in 1868 that drops California in to the ocean turning it in to a Great Maze of columns of rock surrounded by deadly passages of churning water.

This exposes large seams of Ghost Rock, a substance that burns far hotter and longer than regular coal (and is in truth the fossilised souls of the damned, and also I believe bears a lot of Similarities to Infernium from Empire of the Dead).

So a race is on to construct a transcontinental railroad to carry the ghost rock back to civilisation. And, this being that kind of setting, the competition often takes the form of skirmishes and battles fought with a mix of ghost rock fuelled steampunk technology and supernatural weirdness.

In the minis game you take the role of a gang of enforcers working for one of the railroads in the fight. These include Union Blue (a Union proxy railroad) Dixie Rails (a Confederate proxy railroad - did I mention that the Confederacy are still fighting the union in 1876?) Iron Dragon (who have Chinese martial artists and tongs and whatnot) Bayou Vermilion (voodoo and the Zombies) Black River (who I think do Occult) and Wasatch Rails (with an emphasis on steampunk technology).

It is good stuff, and I think a neat format for weird west miniatures skirmish.

I had forgot about deadlands.
the ticks and desert things give me the creeps.
But I can see myself picking up a few of these for the hell of it.

Here are some movie titles that might give you some ideas. "Blood Rayne II", "The Gunfighter Was a Vampire","Curse of the Undead". Even maybe "Westworld". Mad scientists building robot gunfighters. Also the plot behind "Dusk To Dawn" could be set in an old west cantina.

Did anyone add Ghost Rider to the list?

Or even Zorro for a near-Mexican setting?

A fairly recent film with some potential in this area is 'Exit Humanity', set just after the end of the American Civil War, it's clearly low budget, but it's a very decent stab at doing something a little different with the zombie apocalypse theme.

Regarding Deadlands, Reaper has been doing some licensed minis for that setting recently, and they look great. They've got undead cowboys, prospectors, card sharps, and I'm sure several could even migrate to the traditional EOTD mileu without any trouble. The female Mad Scientist is my favorite.
