Thanks very much gents  :)

Was going to say the same thing, what materials do you use? is it foamed PVC?

It's all mounting card (the type used by picture framers) that's 1.5mm thick. It seems the right thickness for most work, sturdy and yet not overly outsized.

I was hoping to get the tatami done yesterday but something went wrong with the transfer between Autocad, Coral Draw and Trotec  :-[ I think I know where the problem lies so I'll have another go this week. Got the shoji frames done though, got to stick the paper on yet...

I'm just sitting here digging it - and trying to suck up information.

What are those shoji frames? They're perfect!
Do they slide?  ;)

(Pst! It's the 20.5.12 today!  ;))

You know, I'm jealous for your resources - roof tile mould, laser cut shoji...  ;)

Where do you get laser cut shoji? Custom ordered?

Well, it's taken long enough to get a bit more done on this but it's progressing  :)

The woodwork, basic groundwork and wall panels are done all in pretty much the same way as I do all my Japanese terrain and there is a more detailed write up on my blog (link below).

The shoji had thin paper applied to them with very thin superglue and will probably need a coat of matt varnish. The woodwork had three higlight drybrushes as opposed to the normal two. I will also be highlighting the shoji frames as they look a little flat.

Still a fair amount to do and I'm changing the roof from thatch to tile as I'm not happy with the thatch experiments I've done so far  :? I'm also not there with the tatami yet but I'm not far off.

Anyway, some pictures  :D

Blog link for those that do  :)

Looks almost better than my own flat. :o Then again I'd be an ashigaru at best...
Well done, looking forward to the final steps.

Thanks chaps  :)

I'm afraid I barely have time for the rambling rubbish I post on my blog and here let alone doing a full blown tutorial. Maybe one day, if I'm incapacitated from the waist down or something  :)

cheers

Well, you could break a foot (or something smaller even, like a toe, that doesn't really hurt that much) in about one and a half year. Need to do some samurai stuff for Gubbspel Galore V then you see... ;)

And if that fails, at least tell me how to do those nice japanese bambooesque roof tiles :) And you don't have to wait one and a half year for that reply by the way.

That's looking wonderful. As ever you creations are at once inspiring and yet depressing for those of us with more modest talents.  I look forward to seeing the finished article.
