Dread Pirate Roe Bear & Co.
« on: May 13, 2012, 07:47:56 PM »
Thought I'd post some additional pictures of my Bears from LPL round 10, since the big photo didn't allow for many close ups.

The Honeydripper:

Some more pictures and some blithering on about the project on the blog here:
http://laughingferret.blogspot.com/2012/05/yo-ho-ho-bottle-of-honey-dread-pirate.html

I figured these would be best in the 'other adventure' section, since where do Teddy Bears fit in exactly?

But I was thinking next time the local Wednesday group runs Legend of the High Seas, I'm playing teddy bears!
Combining these two groups I could have either a Royal Marines force, with the Blue Coat bears as the naval officers and Red Coats for marines, or as a Privateer force, with the Blue Coats as the Captain & officers, pirates as lower level troops and Red Coats standing in for the higher level troopers.  How to explain that they are Teddy Bears? You saw Pirates of the Caribbean... but instead of an Aztec curse to turn them into skeletons, it was an Algonquin curse, for stealing the honey, turning them into honey bears.
Yeah, why not?

Sweet, thanks for posting the additional pics. Creative and well done!

The bears look even better up close Laughing Ferret.  Great work on terrain and boat as well.

This is very strange to me.

But nicely painted!

I was considering that Mini-Mates ship for one of my projects.  Thanks for making up my mind!  Those are great PJ's by the way.
This is my boomstick!

I can't stop coming back to ogle these. I don't imagine I'll ever paint any myself (although I do have one of those ships on my ebay watch list), but I am strangely drawn to them. Fabulous  :-*

Mister Rab, If you don't win your ebay auction, Toys R US have them in their webstore.

Not sure what shipping will cost.

Thanks Mr. Rab  :D
Well, I thought the same thing for about a year- kept admiring the range, and then with the LPl maritime theme.. well that was it, I couldn't resist them any longer  ;)

I wrote up a tutorial for making a fast & inexpensive beach, the one I made for my picture.

It is here for anyone interested in making a beach:
