Cyberpunk fight location suggestions please.
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:48:16 PM »
In the near future I'm going to be running a Savage Worlds Cyberpunk game (in a Deus Ex style setting). For anyone that doesn't know, Savage Worlds is a role play system that encourages the use of miniatures for combat and also uses a streamlined version for wargaming. I don't use miniatures for all combats but they are useful for some and with a little effort they can make for impressive scenes. I run Deadlands periodically and that's easy as I have Wild West scenery etc but for Cyberpunk, I have nothing...

So, I'm planning ahead properly with this one, unlike Deadlands which was often made up on the fly ;) and sorting some figures and scenery for the iconic moments in the relatively short game run. I also intend to use these for small skirmish games, possibly at BLAM, in future so I'll be making them properly. The current plan is for 2' square boards but it's a flexible plan...

Current ideas for iconic fight scenes are:

Hotel area, possibly a lobby and side rooms, but more likely a corridor and some suits,
Ruined Church,
Street Market/shopping street,
Storm drain junction,
Flyover,
Dock/Container town,
Construction site,

Any suggestions for good locations?

I don't know if you've seen or not (probably have  :) ) but there was an anime called 'Cyber City Oedo 808' and in one of the episodes there was a fight in and around Tokyo Tower.

Might be a bit ambitious but would make a cracking board to play on/up  :D

I have indeed seen it but it was many years ago, I remember it being rather good. I'll have to track it down and watch again, good call.

Tokyo tower might be a bit much but a construction area is a good one to add to the list.

Maybe a red and white tower crane :)

Ooh, just remembered, I need to talk to you about some tokens. I have a plan to make hacking an actual part of the game and not send everyone else home while the netrunner character does their own game for 3 hours that takes a minute of game time.

I'm planning a similar campaign; the city boards will be a mix of Gothic/Tudor styles, overhanging balconies et cetera  ,the rules will be bastardised Necromuda tho'.
Your site suggestions sound pretty good to me ;)
I look forward to seeing what you come up with :)

On top of a bullet train, with tunnels of course.
Shibuya bus station, see Jet Set Radio.
In/on an express outside glass elevator.
Subway station.
High class restaurant (preferably a revolving one on a tall building).
Automated manufacturing plant, the more big dangerous robots the better. Robo Rally with blood.

A rat's nest of back alleys, partially filled in by shanties and lean-tos.
