New Company B releases this week
« on: May 17, 2012, 03:15:03 PM »
New 1/56 kits coming out this week:
M1114 Hummer, with all the latest updates:

Mercedes G wagon:

A special Navy SEAL crew for the G wagon will also be available from Eureka Miniatures

We also have a civilian SUV version of the G wagon as well.  Looking over the next few months to the end of the year, I can count 8 more modern vehicle and variant releases that are already completed masters on my shelf waiting to be molded  :D

Lovely work. Nic showed me the crew figures and they are really good.

Hopefully these move.  We have the Mercedes Wolf and P4 with both soft, hardtop and rollcage versions waiting in the wings... A couple of nice surprises coming as well...

Like the Merc but I have to say, (and sorry) but the hummer doesn't look right angles look wrong and it looks too short (height wise) if you see where I'm coming from. Sorry.

Again merc and crew very nice.

Civilian Version.

I've came to the realization that I can't paint non military models  :?  But hopefully this is sufficient for an example.

As you may recall from previous threads on the model, it ha a simple interior, with separate doors, windscreen, tailgate etc (uses the IFV hull)  so the kit is meant to be customized to fit whatever roll you need.

You can see in the picture the doors, windscreen, bumper grill, etc are metal. The hull and wheels are one large integrated piece (thank you JTFM).  Hopefully this will be only the first of a new series of civilian/military kits contracted this way.

The M1114 looks pretty close to the blueprints to me.  This was made by Mike Broadbent to specifically go with the Eureka miniatures lineup, and scaled with those figures.  So I trust that they were looking at the right ref material.  It could just be the angle of the photo.

These were big trucks.  But not taller than a soldier.

While on topic, here's a thing I've been wondering for a while: is the Humvee considered armoured as a standard or is it 'thin-shell'? I remember there being some dialogue in 'Generation kill' about this quality, or lack there of.

The original HMMWV was not armoured as it was designed as a transport, not a fighting vehicle. A big-ass modern version of the MB/GPW or MUTT.

The M1114 is the newer armoured version, designed to withstand small arms fire. I believe there are armour kits to modify unarmoured Humvees, too.

Edit: Been a while since I saw it so I may be mistaken, but as I recall, in Generation Kill they mostly had unarmoured HMMWVs.
