Just thoug I'd add my piccies to the thread...

This was a lovely wee WWI German/Russian game..

....a massive Greek game. Even though there are dice in the picture, it didn't seem to move very far!!! :(...

I know GW doesn't get good press on this site, but these boys had a great set up. You could smell the fresh paint from the board!! Aaahh, I love the smell of fresh paint in the morning!! ;)

A nicely finished medieval board...

Another amazingly detailed display..

A cool Viking board...

....and my favourite game of the weekend, a WWII Russian assault on German defences. Myself and my brother managed a good game of this.

The Russian starting position...

Some of the German defences...

...and here's my three tanks on the left supporting my brothers three and letting him storm up the right flank....

..and straight through(minus some piggy backing troops!)...

Many medals were won that day(although my goodlady wasn't as impressed with me as I was!! ;))

Overall, a great day was had!! Roll on next year!!

I had wanted to have a shot at that WW2 game but time didn't allow.

It was put on the the Society of 20th Century Wargamers (SOTCW) of which I am a member.

Glad you liked the Falkirk game of Germans v Soviets - it was actually set in Latvia in 1919.

My blog entry for the show including a link to even more photos on flickR.

The SOTCW put on the 28mm Soviet Tank PP game at Partizan but they completely revamped the teddy bear fur battlefield for the game at Claymore.  It looks impressive - the biggest PP game I have seen at a show.

Thanks again for the positive feedback on the show.
 :)

I had a great time at the show, even though my schedule meant I could only stay for a few hours. I was staying with a friend in Edinburgh, and he decided to come along as well, not having been in years. He was very impressed by how large and diverse the show was, and impressed with all the great games. I came away with a small bag of miniatures -- perfectly satisfied and happy at having stuck to my budget -- and he emerged staggering under the weight of rulebooks and boxed sets, vowing to come back next year.

We particularly admired that WWII game -- the fields and roads looked natural in a way that's hard to achieve, and the setup told a story that you could take in at a glance.
