Looks a very promising start  8)

Regarding the waterfall, it depends on what sort of overall effect that you're wanting. If it's like the one in film then there are a few products on the market (I'll get the links later for you) that would do the trick but they do need practice before implementing on the final peice.

If you are after something more simple then you could use a sheet of acetate, sand it roughly in the direction of the water and then use a clear contact adhesive such as UHU for the foam at the bottom. We have used this technique at work although it's a bit more refined than might be wanted for a wargaming peice.

Also, for the other terrain, try and mix up the colours and greenery that you will use on them. It will help to make it look a bit more natural rather than the normal brown earth, green grass. I've got a couple of different baggies of mixed greenery/brownery that work well.

cheers

James

Both those would certainly work Iain but I wouldn't recommend using superglue on plastic bottle material as it will come off quicker than would be preferred.

I think the second one is the better choice (but there's not much in it to be honest).

Railway modellers are a great inspiration for us all  :)

I haven't tried it, but what about appropriately colored yarn "teased out" to by nice and fluffy...?  Might look like spray and mist.

I have made several waterfalls using the method shown in the second link. It is very simple and looks quite effective.

Cheers,

I was going to suggest clear caulk, the kind sometime used to seal bathtubs.  Seems about the same as in the second link.  A couple of other ideas to use with that medium: don't be afraid to put some color behind the water (not the rock, the water) but go lightly and test first to see if it gives you what you want.  And an idea I've used to great effect (so far, I'm the only one whose done this I've ever heard of) and that's to drop an adequate amount of glitter into the caulk before it sets.  Gives that extra sparkle.  Also, try out acrylic gloss medium, the highest gloss you can find.  Advice from a long time model railroader.

Good luck.

Like it - nice way to get dense-looking but accessible woodland.  8)
