WIP: Late Roman themed fantasy force
« on: May 20, 2012, 03:37:31 PM »
Just thought I would share some kit-bashing on here with you.  :)

I am putting together a fantasy setting (of my own creation) and the main human force is going to be late Roman themed.

Musician and standard are Black Tree, champion is Artizan with a hand and sword swap as the sword was too big looking and for the scabbard.

The troops are Gripping Beast Saxon Thegns with the same manufacturers late Roman shields. The heads are west wind Arthurian late roman helmeted heads from their seperate head system range.

Thanks chaps. Will obviously post more pics as the unit progresses.

I have a blogger blog to which you should find by searching my forum name.

I wanted to assemble a force quickly and reletively cheaply. Thegns were £20 for 44. Two sets of heads were £8 for 40 in total and shields were £4.50 for 50 odd I believe.

I think you could probably get away with using some of the Saxon helms, especially those with the cheek guards as according to the illustrations I have found on the internet there wasn't a great deal of difference.
