Dust Warfare AAR
« on: May 25, 2012, 12:33:38 AM »
This past Monday me and my buddy got together to play Dust Warfare. The game was a lot of fun and here's a fairly comprehensive after action report: http://firebroadside.blogspot.se/2012/05/dust-warfare-after-action-report.html.

I'm liking the game more and more and have ordered a bunch of SSU stuff.  :)

We have 1 copy of the rules at work (seriously that's all we got) and I've been reading it, and the rules have a lot of strong points like the reaction system, but the army lists seem to be heavily built around the DT boxes. We'll be running some demo games at work to see how the rules play, but I'm still not sold over SOTR.

Yes, the squads come ready to play, there is very little unit customization in the game (a Panzerschreck here, a Bazooka there) BUT it's actually something I quite like about the game. While customizing your units are fun it takes time and still often leads to "samey" armies if you play in a competetive environment. For me all my customization needs are fulfilled by smaller scale skirmish games like Infinity, Heavy Gear and different 15mm offerings. I certainly understand that it can be important to other people though. :)

I got the three first SSU infantry squads in the mail the other day and put together a review of them here. Overall I think they're a definite step up from the allies and about on par with the axis forces. Still made from that slightly bendy plastic that is proving divise in the wargaming community.

I'll be reviewing the helicopter, the chinese volunteers and Koshka and her walker later this week.
