28mm farm animal advice needed
« on: May 24, 2012, 04:26:07 PM »
Although I have one cat, three chickens and about 100,000 honey bees (five hives in spring) in 1:1 scale, I don't have any that will match with my 28mm figures. I've seen the livestock that Matakishi used for his Saucer game, and I like them, but wondered if I could manage a similar effect on the even cheaper.

Has anyone used these figures that Hoard O'Bits are selling on ebay:

http://hoardobits.com/cgi/hob/shop.pl?cat1=Bits&cat2=Other%20Conversion%20Bits&cat3=&cat4=&page=&view=peg-03312012-13

Scroll to the bottom of the page - they're plastic and look like they may need minimal assembly on the cow horns, but they're insanely cheap. Are they worth getting?

Thanks in advance.

For that price I'd get them just to try. (Shipping to Sweden probably isn't included, however.)

They are Pegasus Hobbies. Soft plastic. Just as stated they come in 1/72 and 1/48. I was on a several year long hunt (OK, I did other things during that period to) for these but could *not* find a company willing to ship to Europe. When I finally found one and received them, it was quite an anticlimax. Still, they are good if you want a, for example, large roost of chickens.

The palms and cactii are also Pegasus.

Pegasus stuff is distributed in the UK by Pocketbond, who don't sell retail but do distribute to most UK model shops from chains like ModelZone to independents like Gladston's in North Shields.
Back from the dead, almost.

Ah, the fabled pegasus animals.

I guess I won't find out if I like them just yet, however, as they are now out of stock.  :?

Not the 1/48 Farm Animals, they don't.

Yes - that's how I bought my box.  Perhaps they've either dropped them from the catalogue since I bought them, or added them since you couldn't get them.

That's the peculiar thing, when they pop up @ vendors who have them in their catalogues they seem to be in extremely short supply.

So what I am trying to get across to Rab and others who may be interested in those animals: if you find them, sure get them by all means. But don't do what I did,  they are not really worth the effort.

I confirm, they are the Pegasus 1/48 animals.

Here is a picture of my set and they match 28mm miniatures :

I wish I were an octopus to paint more miniatures...Cthulhu must be a great painter

They look great, YIU. Did you have nay problems with what look like very thin ankles on the animals when it came to sticking them to their bases?

I used super Glue (cyanoacrylate) and had no problem.

You're welcome. You can add some green stuff on bases (such as goats and small pigs) if you wish.
