I've seen your squats before but I love them! The colour scheme is very military and completely the opposite of mine, it suits them really well!
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins

Lovely camo job and neat conversions, those vehicles are brilliant and Rogue Trader as hell. The troopers and exo-armour guys are great too!

Awesome  stuff :)

Apart from the Olley stuff (Not my thing).

Painted in military style, they don't look bad at all... shame that GW binned them  but I guess hog-riders in space were a bit of a long shot.

As much as I am aiming for that sort of market (minus the hogs of course), I want to give them a military edge rather than a mercenary edge (uniformity is key).

Not a GW style fan but that is secondary to size - again, how tall are these dwarf figures?

Any serious consideration to buy must be based on compatibility with other (non-GW) dwarf figures.

Gracias,

Glenn

The complete Dwarf is 21mm to the eye and 25mm to the top of his beret. The other one doesn't have a head.

By the time these are ready, they may have changed... I am at a very early stage in the process.

I am not aiming for compatibility so it is likely that they will end up exactly the size they want to be :)

LOL, I don't expect you to make them to my needs.

Well, assuming they don't "grow" then I will have to keep them in mind as possible "tall" dwarves,

Gracias,

Glenn

I sculpted a space Dwarf... is there a market for some new ones?:

Dwarves

Very nice, congratulations.
However it does not seem very futuristic, that is, as the GW Eldar on the image comparison. The only thing is the futuristic weapon and it jars a little. I would say that it would be fine for a post-atomic Mad Max scenario, or even for a sci-fi scenario like the modern time Predators, or in a fantasy Zombies scenario.
Honestly, I do not see it matching the very futuristic-fantasy Dwarves of Mantic.

Bye,

Old question - what details define Swords and Sorcery in Space (aka Science Fantasy I guess) from Science Fiction from Space Opera?

My thoughts Science Fiction warfare:

Advanced armor (i.e., Power Armor that looks like an enlarged human (or hydrocephalic ape) figure)

Advanced weapons

implied advanced sensors (how to sculpt that is the question for that)

"Jet packs" (also grav belts) whether "hot" or the "cool gas" ones from Star Guard

Technologically advanced non-humans

GRAV Vehicles

Gracias,

Glenn

The finished sculpt of the Dwarf in the beret was to judge proportions only. It is a test sculpt and was only dressed to spare its blushes. It will not be included in the range and was never intended to be.

The second (partially complete) sculpt is what the Dwarfs will be wearing... so light body-armour.

At the moment my only focus is to sculpt enough dollies (probably 6) wearing the same kit, for me to use as a basis for about 20 different versions of Dwarf (once I get some masters cast up), all wearing the same body armour but having different arm positions.

At this moment in time, I have no plans to sculpt anything other than that... so no powered armour, no vehicles and no jump-packs.

If I allow myself to be side-tracked, I will never get these done, let alone any other stuff.

The 20 different troops will include a male and female leader, a male and female comms specialist and a variety of troops with assault weapons. They will all have body armour and will all have pouches and other details. I will include a couple of specialists with support weapons that are likely to be an automatic weapon of some kind and a missile launcher.

I will be sculpting them to have separate heads but once I have done that, I will also do a set with standard, bearded dwarf heads as a one piece cast. The separate heads will be less hairy :) .

At the moment, it is difficult to get the right impression of what I am aiming for because I haven't got anything finished to show off (it is all little building blocks at the moment) but have patience. I hope to have some finished by the end of the year (with a lot of luck). It is a shame that I can't draw what I would like to but stick figures would not work :) !

Stunning work Steam Flunky - I always thought Squats looked best in green and brown tones, and that's how I've painted the few I own.

Love the armored body...when I first got into Warhammer (back in 2nd edition, perhaps circa 1995) I was very much keen on trying to find and field a Squats army...then they slowly disappeared into myth and legend.

I'm sure plenty of people would love to field them again.
