Landkreuzer Ratte painted
« on: June 03, 2012, 04:32:16 PM »
Hi,
you may have seen Ruben Torregrosas "Ratte" already (https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/52qtqboaZdTKOudLuZiLwtMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite), time to show my humble approach...

The Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte (lit.: Land Cruiser P. 1000 "Rat") was a design for a huge tank for use by Nazi Germany during World War II. It was designed in 1942 by Krupp with the approval of Adolf Hitler, but the project was cancelled by Albert Speer in early 1943 and no tank was ever completed.

Forged in Battle produce a 1/100 (15 mm) scale Ratte and made a pre sale of this HUGE model, I was fortunate enough to receive one.

The model comes with different support turrets, I liked the Early/ Mid war look and went for the Flak-Vierlings on the engine deck!
I also wanted a more naval look for my Ratte, therefore the plain grey colour choice.

cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

Awesome. The best "realistic" interpretation of the Ratte I have seen so far, both from the model as well as the paintjob perspective. Love the Flakvierling turrets on the rear, very sensible. Obviously, it's an early war Ratte when you could rely on the Luftwaffe to provide aerial superiority.

It's still missing the ME-262 launchpad or the cables holding down the PzK. V before they jump down upon enemy tanks. :D

Great work on the paintjob and assembly!

Holy crap that thing is awesome. Great job on painting it! Do they have any plans of mass-producing that model, because I'd *love* to buy one.

Darn it Agis... The last thing i need is to buy this, as then I'll need to get everything else in that scale that goes with it.  This just add's more fuel to fire for doing one in 1/56.  As both a model and as the game table.  That would be a cool special forces game.  Not to destroy it, but capture it.

Where is the hangar for storing the Valkyrie Walkers?

Nice work. That bad boy's hideously big isn't it tho? One would think at glance that it's a 28mm scale model...

Hmm, good question.  ::) ;)
Since Motorcycle hangars were planned 2 Loki or Valkyrie walker would make perfect sense in Gear Krieg!

Honestly, it is even bigger, over 30cm long! More like a 1/32 (54mm) model...

Why would you bother with sloped armour on a thing that size? The sheer mass of the damn thing should be enough to stop a 'land based' shell!!

Could it be aerodynamic???????lol
