He is certainly my favourite Van Helsing! ( followed by Anthony Hopkins and then probably Frank Finlay)  not so keen on Hugh Jackmans version though. ;)

sorry to deter the topic, but is there a good Cushing-van Helsing figure? One that sort of looks like he did in the original 1958 Dracula? I can't stand the Van Helsing figures I can find nowadays (Cushing is my all time favorite actor.)

There's HUGE sections of plot missing - Gabriel Van-Helsing (Hugh Jackman) is meant to be the adopted Son of Abraham (something they ripped off - no pun intended - for Rippers: The Horror Wars, though they re-named him Johann).

The Novelization of the Van-Helsing Movie, has huge chunks of story "put back in" (as it was taken from the original running script) - but even then even MORE background is still missing/left out.

The Story-Line for the Sequel (which never got made because of it's "Flop-Factor") had Gabriels Adopted Father in the draft of the plot-line (one can only imagine who might be cast LoL) - it's hokey fun, and I think Richard Roxburgh is utterly amazing as Dracula! Plus the sets and costumes were amazing IMHO!

ACTUALLY I've attempted to sculpt Peter several times, and failed miserably to capture his face  :-[

(and feel free to derail/add too - sometimes such interruptions throw up important things)

Finally finished Doctor Watson, despite having hand issues over the last couple of days AND my favourite brush dying on me (now I've got to break another Brush in Grrr).

Pictures later!

Dr. John Hamish Watson

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% happy with Watson (my crappy camera skills not withstanding) - still he's finished, and the soft yellow glow in the glass of the lantern came out a lot better than I expected.

"Too Many Browns" - is I've learned something here, whilst I am a huge fan of the limited palette approach (I decide before I've even undercoated what colours I plan on using) - this proves SOMETIMES it doesn't really work LoL!

Still, Holmes and Watson are done - and I think I'm definitely "getting there" now!!!

I've a LOT going on over the next few days, but I'm hoping to at least to get the Society Regulars finished by mid-week.

Actually that Watson would be a pretty good Van Helsing...

Thanks Again!

No Painting yesterday beyond blocking in (tired eyes, achey hands) so I re-read Empire of the Dead (and listened to my Hammer soundtrack CD LoL)

Thanks Rad - it's the new one from West Wind. Part of the Empire of the Dead range.
