Kitchen Table game report
« on: June 04, 2012, 09:42:48 PM »
I was able to actually play a full game yesterday!  I posted up a short report on my blog here: http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2012/06/escapeinto-danger.html

Should I be replicating the blog post here in the thread, or is a link like this OK to post?

A good read, enjoyed it.
You wont forget to arm the camera next time, will you?
 ;)

Regarding posting on here- Some people dont bother with links to blogs, so if want to know what kind of response you are getting, it would probably be best just to copy everything to here.

Fun report.

I'm just reading through the rules now, so I have some questions for my own understanding.

How did Carl find a map piece & get a skill increase if he left the board?

& it sounds like Loamy also got a skill increase because he got a lucky hat?  How was that possible if Carl got a skill increase too.

Thanks.
Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

Sounds like your first game went well, all things considered.  No deaths, no horrifically awful die rolls!

To answer Black Cavalier's questions:
How did Carl find a map piece & get a skill increase if he left the board?
Threshold can win Escape...into Danger! by leaving the board via the Lurker short edge.  This remains true even if, as was the case here, all other Threshold models have been removed due to injury.  So, as the winner, and the only uninjured Threshold model, Carl is in fact the only model who can receive the new skill and search for map pieces.  As the Lurker player, the only way to win this particular scenario is to kill ALL Threshold models before they get across the table.  A tricky proposition, but it does force the Threshold player to advance more aggressively than they otherwise might.

& it sounds like Loamy also got a skill increase because he got a lucky hat?  How was that possible if Carl got a skill increase too.
A Lucky Hat is a piece of special gear rather than a skill, and would have been purchased with the starting list.

Nice to know that we interpreted the after game rules correctly.  It was a lot of fun seeing what happened to my group after the game was done.  I felt very lucky having two Major Injuries and ending up with a very minor negative outcome.  I've been reading through the 1-Map Piece quest scenarios to see if there's one that I want to try or wait and play through a few regular ones first.

Very nice AAR. I love the photo of the temple with all these cultists. It looks like a place where you do not want to go...at all!

We had the same after a the last game we played, two Major Injuries.
Not so fortunate for our guys....

As we are running a campaign the Map Pieces will be used to direct the narrative.
The GM can assign missions to be played to the players, so that the story flows better.
They are a great tool for a GM!

Very interesting idea Mason.  We don't have such a cohesive group of players, so our Strange Aeons games are a lot less structured.  The local shop that I frequent is having Thursday evening as their game night.  I run VS System events that evening, but our attendance has been pretty poor this year, so I've been helping out with Strange Aeons.  It's really only been myself and one other player on a regular basis, but I'm hoping that by having us play a game or two each time and people asking what it is, we'll draw more interest.

Thats the way to do it, obsidian3d!
I just started the SA project on my own, and told all the other guys that they wouldnt have to buy/paint anything,I would do it all.
I really wanted to do the project anyway and extra players would have been a bonus.

As it turns out, they all played one game and loved it!
Now they are all buying and painting their own teams and one even intends to collect his own Lurker collection!

Just get 'em playing.
They will love it!
