Van-Helsing, I'm sorry but I'm not sure if you intended that I respond to this.  The Kraken is not directly related to my coming pirate raid gallery but it is part of the pirate collection I'm putting together.  In the process, ideas not directly related to the specifics of the project come to me and quite often I act on those ideas.

Oops - not sure how that happened!

Bezzo, the octos are great.  Since I don't sculpt, I'll be looking for some to convert at the swap meet.  A couple weeks ago I found a great sea serpent by Playmobil.  It really modified well.  I'll probably post a photo of it once I put the finishing touches on my pirate gallery.  Glad you like the dino tails.  Richard

Actually, in the midst of various projects, almost all of them related to WWII and other adventures in that timeframe and period, you all of a sudden sparked the interest for my pirates again. I must build something like this, its too cool not to do! Thanks for the inspiration!

Gallows Falls - Western Village
Eisende - Mordheim costal village WIP
Rome - SPQR & Hail Caesar

Galland, I get so many great ideas from the postings of the members of this website that it's nice to know that once in awhile I can offer something that others can use.  Thanks.  Richard

Wow! That is ace cool!  :o

Awesome!

I think I'll have to try out that approach my self. Any idea what to do with the castrated dinoes?

Dr. The Viking, I'm glad you enjoyed my "dino tail" Kraken and will try one of your own.  As to the left-over dino parts about all I considered was treating it as a sea creature by sticking its head, neck and upper shoulders in a base of "Milliput water" as though it was swimming with its head out of the water.  But while I was working on the Kraken project, I found the Playmobil sea serpent at the swap meet for a dollar and it was such a nice piece and so easy to modify that I didn't bother with any additional dino work.  Richard

Belisarius, I now have a "dino" Kraken and a Playmobil sea serpent.  If I find a great whale, white or otherwise, at the swap meet, I'll definitely pick that up too.  Glad you liked the piece.  My daughter took the photos.  Richard

War in !5's
Just went by your site. great job with both modeling and photography. Well worth a visit for those who have not been.

Bezzo,
For some reason a conclave of tiny river krakens seems much creepier to me than one big one.

Hi Richard,

Crackin good Kraken! Interesting to see yo take on something non-historical! Ohh and by the way since I to live in the same Geodraphis area as you and have constantly tried to get you out of your man cave, here is another invite, this time to a one day event put on by HMGS/PSW (Historical miniature Gaming Society/ Pacific SouthWest) on June 30th at the Manhatten Beach Armory, Manhatten Beach, CA. check it out a ww.HMGSPSW.org 9-9 Saturday. Lots of miniatures, games and good times!

A really clever idea and perfect execution! I find the sea monster head much more impressive though.
