Scooby Doo where are you?

Hammershield's dog thread brought this to mind.

I am sure most everyone has seen Hasslefree's group of meddling miniatures that just came out. I got mine in the mail the other day.



But I am looking for a Great Dane dog miniature, or something close. I want it to look like a real dog though, not like Scooby. Plus a standing pose is preferred over a running or attacking pose. Any suggestions? Odd it seems like hunting down dog miniatures has been a bit of a quest for me lately. Thanks for the help.

Frothers made a Great Dane which is not entirely cartoonish but not, on the other hand, not entirely convincing either if I am to be honest. Take a gander at Mr. Spaulding and his mutt here:

I know they're not Great Danes, but the old Dark Elf rottweilers might work.

If I remember correctly, I think I read on hasslefree's forum that their is a great dane in the works.....If you wanted something that matched the sculpting style.

Thanks for everyone's input. I am still so-so about the dog from the asylum set. But something is better than nothing. I did post this same questions on the Forum of Doom and Kev White mentioned the same dog above. If he was working on one I would think he would have said something.

I don't blame you. I have a lot of 28mm dog minis and that Great Dane is not among the most convincing sculpts. I got it because it is the only one I can find.

If you want a real good looking large dog but not necesarily a GD (Scooby-Doo dog) then I would go for the mastiffs from Vendel's Border Reiver range, which are lovely sculpts. They simply have the right canine postery and power:

That's the one I was trying to remember yesterday. I knew there was a historical manufacturer that had made some nice large sized dog figures. Thanks HS!

The "Fillmore" VW van from the Pixar Cars line - just paint over the eyeballs on the windshield. It's a bit smallish, but that's somewhat more desirable than fullsize, and it's ubiquitous at the big box stores. Otherwise it'll be trawling the local Dollar Trees or odd toy shops for an appropriate vehicle.

I could swear I saw a 1/43 "model"kit of the Mystery Machine at (dare I say it) WalMart about a year ago. it was prepainted and decaled, you just put the seats in and wheels on. Can't seem to find any reference to it now...shoulda put that in the "do something with it later file".
