I enjoy this guy's blog quite a bit, but in this case, I actually think his skill is superior to his interpretation. It simply looks like bits of earthly animals thrown awkwardly together in a Frankenstein manner. Lovecraft himself was vague on the appearance of the servitors, citing only nameless paws in his description, while Derleth expands by describing them as amorphous.
