Masked Men
« on: February 05, 2008, 09:00:18 AM »
Some of the guys here at Osprey Towers are starting a small alternate-history Napoleonics game, and I find myself in need of a small band of masked men to be a resistance movement.

So far, I have the Outpost highwayman with blunderbus:

Crusader's El Chameau:

These from Laughing Monk/Shadowforge (does anyone know a UK stockist for them?):

I found one on p.110 of Legends of the High Seas - a bounty hunter with two flintlocks and the same Brotherhood-of-the-Wolf tricorne and greatcoat look. I don't, however, know who makes it - it looks Dixon-y in style, but I can't find anything on their website.

So, if anyone can direct me to similar miniatures, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks!

I don't have LotHS, but I suspect the unidentified figure you're thinking of is from Black Cat. Is it this one?

Fighting 15s also sells the Laughing Monk stuff.

Also don't forget Blue Moon, though sadly they're only sold in big sets so you'll probably end up with lots of redundant figures:

I'll check my grand list of swashbuckling miniatures to see if I've missed anything.

Seems that's about it, aside from this expensive GW one:

A nice figure but strange why they gave him a bicorne

Man, you guys rock. Thanks for the intel - and, yes, that's the one i was looking for, Rhoderic.

I'd forgotten about that GW one too - perfect (albeit pricey!)

Cheers

Rhoderic has become the Linneas of swashbuckling miniatures, patiently parsing countless catalogs into lists of usable figures.

The Black Cat Highwayman should go brilliantly with your OWS highwaymen since they're both from the same sculptor.

I own the GW one - it's a nice sculpt but the price is ludicrous and the horse is considerably underwhelming. I swapped it out for a trotting Renegade horse and it looks much better. The bicorne is a bit of an oddity, I agree.

Although I'm sure most unwanted figures could be traded to other Lead Adventurers

I have plenty of pyrates, but not many civilian/Government types.......
