10mm Mining Colony (More Marines added 9.17)
« on: June 16, 2012, 10:41:02 PM »
It's going to be a few weeks before my new colonists, marines, and aliens show up.  That gives me time to get the terrain boards ready to go.  So far I've got the main colony built and ready to go.  Here are some pre- and post-paint pictures:

And some detail shots:

This centerpiece was built almost entirely out of found items saved from the rubbish.  It's all mounted on a 1/4-inch thick piece of craft board 12-inches on a side.  More construction details available on my blog.

Thanks for the response.  I've got a batch of various and sundry Pendraken sci-fi figs travelling half way around the world, so they probably won't be here for at least another two weeks.  It's like the song says, the waiting is the hardest part.

Agreeing with the others; I love terrain made from rubbish and you did such a good job on these you cant tell what they were.

Added some rocks and alien plants to the mix today.  The tube plant things are melted straws cut to size.

Yeah - more pictures (and bigger) are available at my blog: War In A Box .

Also, full credit where credit is due, the melty straw thing isn't my idea - I grabbed that one from this page over on Terragenesis. I'm trying to stick a couple of those plants on the rest of the terrain, where appropriate, to tie the whole table together as a unified whole.  We'll see how well that works out on the landing pad I'm building right now.
