An after action report for "Flashing Steel"
As our usual board gaming evening was missing one of our players, I decided to run a miniatures game. I thought we would give “Flashing Steel” a go, so I quickly sorted out a group of colonial settlers as a group of defenders and a pirate crew as the attackers.
The basic scenario was for the pirate crew to raid the settlement for plunder and make good their escape. The settlers would try and stop them.
The pirates eventually got going after some reluctance in rolling more than one activation dice. The first shot claimed the settlers guard dog which had bounded gallantly towards the plunderers. The settlers were soon overrun, the only survivor being one of the servants who was last seen fleeing into the nearby fields.
Only a few in game phots to give the flavour.
The pirates start towards the settlement
The settlers get their first glimpse of trouble ...
... and suffer the consequents
The servants are spurred into action – but all too late though.
The Somnabulist painted the pirates and also provided some of the jungle terrain. The settlers, buildings and general debris are all mine own work.
An enjoyable evening game and the start of a campaign – I’m sure the militia will be out next time.
