Inspirational?  :P

Yes! It is!

But lets be honest.....how often would you use it?
There are not too many games where you could.
The reason I suggest the idea of a 'bring your own thing' kind of event is to make it worthwhile.

I have a whole cupboard full of scenery that was mainly built for Mordheim, but deliberately made it 'non-specific' as I know that it would be better to be able to use it in more than one game.
Victorian London is so specific that it is difficult to justify that kind of commitment.

I have no problem with making any kind of scenery, so long as it will be used.

Maybe we need to come up with some sort of local group thing where we can all borrow everyone else's scenery......

The main question is...

What are you going to do for scenery  ;) :D

cheers

James

Get massive mates rates hopefully... ;)

I know what everyone means though. I was going to go for a small cobbled board with maybe a monument theme in the middle, a viaduct at one end to give it some depth (have a load of resin railway arches and such like that i bought when a model shop closed) and maybe some faux terracing one side, (probably not as it wouldn't suit the momument). Of course if I get the chinese sorted there's always victorian chinatown...;)

I'm going for East End docks...
Already have a couple of ships that would work well and add another dimension to play....

So small terrace streets, warehouses, the odd church yard and some warfs with docked ships...

Suitable for many EotD scenarios, and after all, Limehouse was THE Chinatown in the 19 century...

There are some other AAR's somewhere back in the VSF board or Gothic board all, part of the same campaign.

I love Chinese Kung Fu / Fantasy stuff!  :-*
Chinese Ghost Story, Mr. Vampire, Encounters of a Spooky Kind, etc. etc, ...
You need a Taoist Priest Vampire Hunter to keep those Undead in check.  :D

I've been eyeballing some of the Black Hat minis for a while now.

No, I hadn't until now. I wasn't a LAFophile back in 2007 and tend not to follow VSF (for fear of being sucked into another genre/period).

That is the only thing stopping me from doing EotD.

The whole point of the game, as far as I am concerned, is to play it in London.
Otherwise it just becomes another variant of Vampire Wars, where most people play a country enviroment.

My tuppence....

Actually, if you read the interview with one of the authors, the whole point is not to necessarily play it in London. They went out of their way to design it so that it could be played in a multitude of backdrops and settings. I plan on playing either in Africa or in America.

Already got, just need to find them all, (in the final process of building decorating my gaming studio/study so little boxes, little boxes.... etc.. ;) And Mr Vampire, chinese ghost story and the like are personal favourites of mine too.

Mr. Vampire (which features a sterling bit of work form the late and lamented Lam Ching-ying) and the other jiang shi movies do take a bit of different angle on the whole zombie/vampire/revenant thing from the western standards. Here in the barbarous lands of the white devils, the undead rise because of some external (evil) influence, but in a proper Middle Kingdom jiang shi story it's mostly the other way around - if the dead aren't properly prepared to keep them inanimate, they will come out to suck your qi.

Last night a took a couple of some very old grenadier horror minis, (the classic nosferatu in cape, stake weilding hunter and one with a revolver) and cleaned them up, took the solid bases off whilst watching Frightnight (2011) (appalling film, though there is a camo by the original actor that played 'Jerry the vampire') Anyway I digress...

Today the deed is done, rulebook, some vampire wars minis, bushido heads from the SHS range and a few other odds and sods ordered with the lovely Wendy.

Here we go again!

Ahhh, the thrill of the chase....
And just think, only 8 or so figures to paint!

Or even less if you fancy playing the jack the ripper scenario with maybe a Chinese Vampyr instead of Jack?
