Gunbirds tasty 20mm Kursk bits
« on: June 26, 2012, 08:40:55 PM »
(Just realised this is the only forum where I still use Wayswatcher as my nick....i wonder if I can have that changed....)

Better keep the next 2 months progress all in one topic. Easier on the eye

First up is a demolition Borgward to take care of the Russian minefields.
The base is a Britannia Wanze with the driver and panzerschrecks removed to get a clean Type C Borgward. Sadly this is the wrong type for Kursk, I need a A or B for that. Technically I can't use this one as it is a bit longer then the A or B but frankly I don't care
Engine bay sanded down, sides and rear cut, new exhaust made (which varies in location on all of my pics so I went for the middle ground), stick with a ball on it (what does it do, does it make it easier to see or what?) cover for the driver who won't be present and a new cover for the old drivers seat (The A and B had the driver on the right).

Then we add something to get the Russians from their trenches, the Kebab Machine.....ok, its a Flammpanzer III. Pretty far along with this one, time for weathering and detailing.

And completing todays post, 3 Panzer IV's from PSC, with some minor upgrades. I was just working on adding the brass barrels.

I get them straight from the source in Poland, RB Models. http://www.rbmodel.com/index.php?action=products&cat=news

Always a very fast turn around, always less then a week to my location and you get emails informing yopu about the status of your orders.

And in case you are wondering about the lack of muzzlebreaks, I added them this morning as last night I was a wee bit tired and putting them on straight, while easy, is better done with a clear head.

Not 1, not 2, but 3 Borgwards will be rumbling across the table.

Updated the original as well with jerrycans, cleaned up the front and added handles to the charge. Also made a seperate charge.

And the man who will be in control, a converted Italeri Fast Build Panzer III

Working on getting the control box looking proper now, then back to the rest of the tank. Open hatches nicked from a PSC Panzer IV.

Borgwards and the single charge are done. And the finished models come with aerials, I just forgot to place them when I was taking the shots!

Models are converted Wanze from Britannia (driver and rocketpack removed, sides altered, new exhaust system, antenna and markerpole, plates for the engine and driver)

And also finished, the vehicle for the Luftwaffe Liason Officer, a captured Austin Tilly.

Proper pics of the Borg, now with their radio antenna:

The Flammpanzer III is done as well:

And some progress on the Funklenkpanzer III:

PSC releases upgrade kit to turn Panzer IV into a Brummbar!

No, not really. Mated a Italeri Brummbar superstructure to a PSC Panzer IV hull to make sure it fits in with the rest (and to save a lot of time)

Time keeps on ticking....

Fltr: Brummbär, captured T-34/76 x2, Funklenkpanzer III

Been spending most of the evening going through my spare decals for the 2 captured T-34's. You propably can't see it, but I spliced together the large crosses by cutting apart a set of larger decals and replacing the individual sections. God what a chore. Must have been a monk in a previous life. But things are progressing according to plan....just wished I had more time.

When the varnish has dried I can start repainting the crosses and filling in the missing bits....then paint the bases and start detailing. Hope to have these done next week so I can finish off the remaining infantry and other goodies.

Funklenkpanzer done, just the commander to do

Brummbär done

The wrecks that I have WIP won't be done in time I'm afraid.

Last of the armour done.

Beutepanzer T-34(r)

and 3 Panzer IV H's

But I've missed weathering the hull on the Panzer IV commander so that goes straight back to the painting table.
