Here's the finished item.

Let me know what you think chaps; is this a convincing attempt at early 16c. rather than late 15c. horse armour?

There are a few more images along with some historical detail regarding the rider in the corresponding blog post;

All the best

Wow. :o Fantastic work.  I love your painting style and the way you painted those horse cloth thingies.

Beautiful work Stuart. I found your blog a few months back and spent a very happy hour looking back over your work. A stunning collection all the more so because of the work involved in adapting figures for it. I have always wanted to recreate Flodden (even my pin no was 1513) but have never had the ability to do it justice without a commercial range. Glad you have started posting your work here too, look forward to seeing more.

Cheers

Thank you, glad i'm not the only one with 1513 on the brain!

Flodden was an early consideration but I went for the French campaign as there was more variety and colour in the troops that went, not to mention young Hal himself.

However, when I finish this army (lol) it wouldn't take too many bases to give it universal use so I may just well do that........one day.

Blinking good Stuart. You have definitely captured an early rennaissance rather than late medieval flavour.

Know what you mean. I guess the little variety available at Flodden would be supplied by the Scottish elements. Which led me to think. Are you planning the Valois opposition?

In a roundabout way, yes; I plan to do a De la Pole rebel force which was assembled in 1514 for an Anglo French invasion / uprising in 1514 which never came to fruition as a peace treaty was signed. A force was ready and waiting, comprising mainly of landsknechts with a few French it would be an easy first foray into a French force.
