Vikotnik's Denmark-inspired Pyrate Thread
« on: June 29, 2012, 08:02:01 PM »
Arrr!

Last summer I visited Denmark for a gathering of friends to enjoy a weekend of gaming and beer. A motto for this year was announced: It should be pirate gaming! I pondered a while and the I dug out a Box of Rackham's Confrontation Goblins! Haha! I knew I would need them some day when I bought them about ten years ago! This, my friends, is the proof that one actually NEEDS a lead mountain!

I painted them on and off for about a year now, taking long breaks inbetween because these miniatures are a bit, ahem, special.

During this time I came up with lots of ideas for a pirate-game myself that should have the goblins as 'heroes' Let's see how this develops...
I know that the pics are a bit large but I want to show off because I really am happy to have actually finished these crazy miniatures!

Anyway, here are the first pics of my Goblin Pyrates, hope you enjoy the pics:

What would Pirates, erm, Pyrates be without a ship? I actually have converted a model kit into something usable! Pics are coming up in the next few days!

...or so...

Cheers guys!

Good to see you back at it Carsten  8)

Yeah, the table is nearly finished as well, just wait a little more until I had the time to complete it.

Holy crap...that rust effect is fantastic :o I've been trying to paint rust like that for years...

Glad you like it! There is nothing to it, there even is a tutorial on how I paint my rust on this forum:

Wonderful  :-* :-* :-*  I would have been more impressed if it was Swiss or Hungarian Pyrates though ;D

The models are just too great. And your painting brings out the weirdnes in them big time. It's really nice to see some of your work again. It's the little details, the way you paint boots etc, that bring back lots of happy memories of painting together with you.

Now I'm really looking forward to your pirate ship... sorry, pyrate ship.
