I have the one from Antenociti's Mat-o-war system, but it doesn't seem to be in stock at the moment.  Send them an email:

Hotz sells Desert mats, by I don't recommend them. While the mats are o.k., they are too expensive considering that they are just a piece of normal felt without any artwork. You could just buy a felt sheet of equal quality from a fabric store for less than half the money.

The Terrain guy also sells game mats.

If you want very cheap, you can get a tan or brown bedsheet from a discount store for very little money.  If you want to vary the color a bit, you can sponge paint onto it in irregular patterns, spatter paint with a cheap brush, or use a can of spraypaint from a distance.

I just went into a local fabric shop and asked. They'll have what you want.
I told you so. You damned fools.

Dear all,

Just to let you know that I placed an order to Hotzartworks with Eric Hotz since now May 6th and I have nothing received after 3 mails for complain !!

He doesn't reply to any email, and at this time, I'm definitely losing money with this guy !

Hope American Express can do something, but please DO NOT ORDER  with him !!! He 's definitely not professional at all.

Thx for reading

He has become notoriously slow in supplying. Don't worry, you will get your mat!

I go to the fabric store and look for a light fabric with some kind of mottled pattern. Pick the color with the right shades for the terrain you want. If it is 60" just buy 3 yards and that is plenty to cover most tables. I have a base for desert, swamp, forest, a couple of different sea cloths, and even one for space ship games.

I found some very nice felt in sand with brown on it.
Also green.
Got it at JoAnn's fabric store.
If on sell about $4 to $5 a yard.
