Cthulhu Heroclix repaint.

This is not by me, but I spotted this over at Cool Mini....I think the paint has added another level of scariness to him/it.

It's painted by Brandxpainting, here's the whole CMoN link.

I've been wondering what to do with mine...maybe a repaint is in order!

I still have to fix the damn wings on mine. I had it too close to a table edge, it got jostled and went overboard. CRACK! Two wings snapped off. I bought some brass rod to drill and pin it, but just haven't gotten around to it.

What did you do to the base? I've waffled on buying Ol' 'Thulhu for some time but the clickie base that he is rising out of really turns me off. Great re-paint thou!

From the Dread Book of C'lix

In this fashion may you separate a clix figure from its base: Consign the figure to the freezer for hours, letting it slowly collect rime and hoar-frost while its polyvinyl is rendered stiff as old bone. Then, with care, bend the figure to stress the place where it meets its unholy base. The glue will be sluggish and brittle as the minds of men attempting to comprehend the Infinite. The glue will break, and the figure shall be liberated from the base.

Discard the base, for it is a dangerous evil that will ensnare the mind and imperil the soul. The figure thou shalt repaint as thou wilt.

Not sure if you've seen the base on this one. Cthulhu is rising out of the ocean and stepping onto land. The base is quite huge and has lots of surface area for glue to be spread around on. I just figured it would be harder than the standard clix base to remove...and then to re-sculpt!    A lador of love to be sure.

I'd still give it a go. I think the glue is pretty brittle against shear. Freezing the figure is as much to prevent the polyvinyl from bending too much during the shear as it is to weaken the glue.

The alternative is Dremel + time, and I am impatient.

I've still got one of the old Inteleg International Official Call Of Cthulhu Vinyl kits. Pretty cool model...but it comes in a zillion parts and I've never worked with vinyl before. Anyone know of any articles or whatever concerning the assembly of vinyl kits please let me know.

Wouldn't it be easier just to fill over the click dials and glue them? :?:

No, because contrary to the teachings of PeteMurray on the book of C'lix(that was grand, PM!     ), the Schsim of Conversion sayeth "...for the wheel hath great use for the conversion of man and beast and the devices of man, and yeah, could be used for building anew great wonders..."

So store that base and use it! They make great wheels for pulp or sci-fi vehicles  :)

That repaint was done by Thomas Dixon who happens to be my next door neighbor.
Pics of the base can be seen on his personal website http://www.battlefieldscenics.com/content/great-cthulhu-01
