Photos, boys. Detailed close-up photos are the only way to be sure.

(I'd like to get these minis too, so a look at what is out there would really help! I love    painting old Citadel, and I need some Samurai.)

I was watching this samurai on ebay, I like the look of this mini very much, but it was too expensive.
Any info on it?
It has a slot base but it would be awesome if one could get it as pre-slotta for a few pence from Foundry.

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Remember when Citadel didn't suck, and had lots of neat and wacky miniatures? Thanks for the picture, Grimm...

The Foundry range contains the original Citadel samurai from about 1981. The later releases with slotta bases are all different figures and none of the ealy ones were remoulded as far as I know.

The next time I take some photographs I'll try to remember to take a group photo of all the poses.

Thanks for the pictures Grimm. A large selection of ninjas.

I do not have any of these ninjs, I do have some pre-slota base ninjas, which I will photograph and post this weekend.

here's a picture of the existing Foundry Samurai figures:

There are actualy two ninjas in the set. Ninjas are notoriously hard to photograph but if you look closely, you can see them here:

They are the front two in the centre, the one with the kusari gama is the limited edition that you get free when you order the other 30.
The rest are Dixon Miniatures.

Great pictures Matakishi. That confirms that all of the Foundy minis are the old Citadel Oriental range, including the 2 ninjas. It looks like there is only 1 samurai I don't have  :) . I also have a Citadel ogre mage which was release in the 80s as a box set with some samurai  . I will have to take a picture.....

Here is the Citadel Oriental Heroes box set. It was painted in 1985 by a friend, Daniel Alexander. Sorry for the poor pictures, I need to practice more:
The complete box set:

Great set! Despite what people may say abt the cartoony sculpts, I'm a devoted fan of the old Citadel style. I still think that they look great on the tabletop, esp. w/ a great paintjob!

The original box set of citadel samurai had 10 miniatures in it and didn't contain the ogre. There was a companion set of oriental goblins, again with ten miniatures, that included a dog handler.

They must have released the ogre later as I've never seen it before :( It's nice and fits well with the style of the humans.
