Death Guard (Typhus 21-10-2012)
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:26:18 PM »
I've decided to start a little Warhammer 40K Death Guard blog here. I'm starting a Death Guard army (like many, many people) and I'm making some small progress in building the models and painting them. I like to paint models with quite a high contrast, so they tend to be quite colorful.

A Blight Drone that I've done some time ago:

A metal Plague Marine that I've finished recently:

Death Guard Rhino W.I.P.:

This Rhino is to be a stolen Ultra Marine Rhino with a new paintjob and partially converted to better suit the followers of Nurgle. I don't really like the over the top mutated tanks with tentacles and growths, so I've decided to only make my tanks rusty with battle damage.
I've already done some edge highlights and the interior (the back hatch still opens and closes) I'll be doing the details before adding rust and mud.

Today I've put some Plague Marines together and I've primed some others:

Good for you for not going down the GW 'over the top' route of modelling and painting.

Keep up the good work.

Very nice, reminds me of my old death guard! Never a fan of OTT converted tanks in honesty! I like the idea of it being a stolen tank rather than a converted one! Converting Ultramarines? Pah! Unlikely! :)

Nice work, keep it up .

Stop making me want to redo my death guard...  ;D

Good start. I've collected lots of Nurgle appropriate painting tips here:

Nurgle's never been my thing, but it offers some downright fantastic conversion and painting opportunities and it looks like you've got those well in hand. Excellent painting on the drones and the marine, those FW ones are gonna look sweet in that scheme! Loving the captured rhino so far, nicely beat up and desecrated without going too overboard on the battle damage. Can't wait to see that one painted up.

Another small update on my Rhino. I've painted the tracks and glued them in place, Done some small shading and more edge highlighting and started on some details. The tracks are going to become rusty and dusty in the end (at least I hope so).

A small update on three Plague Marines that I'm painting at the moment.

Not the best picture, as some of the details aren't really visible (highlights on the helmets) and the yellow is more fluorescent in real life.

Still working on the Rhino as well and maybe I'll post a WIP picture tomorrow. I've gone a bit overboard on the weathering I think...

Coming together nicely  8)

I almost bought that drone when it came out as it's probably one of the better models they have produced. It's also different enough not to be immediately linked with GW.

Extremely slow progress (I'm not taking enough time for this), but I've finally finished one (yes, one) Plague Marine. I have to start painting in batches from now as that'll speed up things a bit.
