I am trying to find out what the uniform of a naval infantry political officer looked like with no luck. I can't find anything on the internet.

Soviet political officer had only one difference from the usual officers - is a special form of the star on the sleeves of clothing. In other respects political officer had the same uniforms, and all the other officers of his military unit. This rule has been in the army and navy. In 1943, with the introduction of the shoulder straps, and the these differences have been canceled.

Politruk (political officer of lower rank) of naval aviation.

Insignia political officer. Blue stripe between gold lace means belonging to the naval aviation.

Insignia Soviet navy men (sample 1935). The red color I indicated insignia the political officers.

Thank you Cuprum. Was there any thing distinguishing about his cap....say, a red band or anything?

Here are some Naval Infantry that I have been working on for Bolt Action:

I tried to base them in a way that would make them useful for fighting in Stalingrad or on the rocky shores of the Crimean Peninsula.

(Please be gentle Cuprum!!!) lol

In general - not bad!
I should add a little golden stripes that mimic the inscription on the band of his cap from the sailors. Also their be very adorned the sleeve insignia. And the officer (if the officer - not the boatswain) to be golden Cap Badge of sufficiently large.

Cuprum.....I will make the officer badge larger. I have been afraid to attempt the ship's name on the sailor caps...but I will give it a shot.

Which ornament on the sleeve?

Thanks for the inspiration! Now some one will get a captured German machine gun!!!!

The Mariners have sleeve insignia (over the cuff of a sleeve). On both sleeves. See table uniforms fleet that I gave above.
As the sailors were worn on left arm a sign of their marine specialization.

Sleeve Insignia Officers.

Sleeve Insignia sailors.

Sleeve Insignia sailors by specialty.

German captured weapons (machine guns and submachine guns), willingly used in the Soviet army. German machine gun was perfect, the best similar weapon at the time in my opinion. Submachine gun was easier for the Soviet, so it is fun to use reconnaissance units. Furthermore, it was easier to get ammo in the enemy rear for captured weapons.
In addition, the Soviet sailors are widely used Soviet automatic rifle SVT-40.

By the way. Machine-gun cartridge belt  used by sailors as a bandolier with a deficiency of conventional ammunition bags. And yet it was a tribute to the "seaman" fashion ...

I think I might arm a whole squad with these!

I think it will be enough to make a red spot, and then poke it cropped end face of the old brush with black paint. Something like this:

It will be seen that there is a sign on the hand - and that is enough.

By the way, I have for sale a pair of Soviet Marines 30 mm (as Copplestone figures). The figure made our Russian wargamer. Look at the painting:
