My Special Forces, now a tank
« on: July 19, 2012, 12:38:29 AM »
some of my special forces I finished painting up

It is supposed to be a mixed Israeli and Druze force, the Israelis on top with the middle picture Druze.
The first and third figures on top are Battle Honors Vietnam Downed Pilots, the middle figure is Mongrel Congo Merc.
The Druze are all from the same pack Mo-Fo Mercs.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

the top are Mongrel PLO and I think of them as a kind of Main Force PLO, the bottom figures are Eureka ZANLA with a scarf added and I think of them as part time fighters.

The image is fairly small, dunno if others have the same issue but I can't see too much at this scale ;)

When I think of the Lebanese Civil War more often than not the first thing that comes to mind is PJ O'Rourke's description of the participants looking like ' gangs of armed hairdressers'.  :)
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

or the cast of 'Hair' with attitude... for sure the Lebanese Civil War would have made a great alternative to Saturday Night Fever.. 'Beirut - where the AK47 is king by day, but Disco rules the night!'

Despite that I think it's a great setting for games with some really unusual things going into the mix. The converted Eureka figures are looking the part as well!

Well, after all Beirut is the city where they say you can ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon.

If I'm honest there is a somewhat more salacious thought that comes to mind at the mention of the Lebanese Civil War. Many years ago I was going out with an actress of Italian heritage. Nobody famous, the sort that does mostly performance pieces and the odd bit of children's telly. Amongst her circle of friends was a rather nice Palestinian chap who had written a play about his upbringing in a Palestinian refugee camp in the Lebanon.  The gf worked with him on the play and eventually I was required to go along to the Darebin Arts Centre to watch the event. The premiere of this little piece boasted quite a respectable number of people from Melbourne's very large Lebanese and Palestinian communities.

About 10 minutes after settling into my seat there was a slight disturbance in the theatre. All of the young men in front of me swivelled around in their seats to gape upon the vision that had entered. Arriving late was a very attractive young Lebanese woman somewhere in her late thirties, at a guess, who had quite the largest bosom I have ever seen. Actually it was incredible, it look liked she had stuffed two meteorological ballons down her low cut top. I think I can readily vouchsafe that this was a woman who would never drown and single-handed she may well have laid the basis for the fortunes of DuPont business empire. The hypnotic effect of these massive orbs was emphasised by the fact that, arriving late in a full theatre, she had to shuffle crab wise along the row.  It must have taken her a good two minutes to get from the aisle to her seat but it seemed an eternity.

Quite unforgettable, in stark contrast to the dramatic piece that followed. Happy memories.

Is that a toy tank? It sure looks like one and if that's so, those little details you added are great!
