It's here!

Now I have an intimidating box sitting in the dining room staring back at me threatening to be added to the lead pile.

I got some with a mate of mine (Vampire plus lots of extras) and he has just recently received shipping confirmation, so they are even filtering down here to OZ.

Cheers!

Well. After another failed climax, the countdown is now almost freezed again.

And what bothers me more is that people are still defending them. Nobody forced them to do this business, and after almost one year from the payment (and four months from the official deadline) some of us are still waiting.

I really don't get where i'm mistaken: they gave a really bad estimate of the time, they did not give communications, and still everyone is acclaiming them. Well, i'll be surely happy with the final product, but this whole deal is quite a pain!

Frankly, i think that they lost quite some customers with all this. Probably they gathered more, but that's not the good way of work.

I don't understand why people take any notice of the deadlines in these Kickstarters.

Every one I've been involved with has been a long wait.

If I pledge on a Kickstarter, I must admit to paying no attention whatsoever to deadlines as they always over run. I just relax in the knowledge that they'll turn up eventually and I have so much in my lead-pile that it will keep me busy while I wait.

It isn't as if anyone has died or anything ;)

I have three pledges on the go and they have all been funded. I don't expect much before the end of August and some beyond Christmas.

Well, I admit it's a good philosophy, and you're free to adopt it.
But that's not universal. When a big company starts a kickstarter and give deadlines, all the business is based on the company's authority. They are professionists, and people expected them to act like those. They offered a splendid deal, but also they offered their own "good name".
and, IMHO, they quite lost it.

That said, i've soooo many things to do that i'm not really bothered by that delay. I'm much more touched by the horde of people that feel right defending them.

I don't understand that people talk about deadlines at all, since these are not mentioned on kickstarter. The only date given is an estimated delivery date. This is an estimate since outsied influences can have an effect on it. There could have been a more communication from reaper, but I never felt that I wasn't updated enough. Then again, I've participated in quite a few kickstarters and the more succesfull they are, the bigger the chance that the eta shifts a few months. Nothing to worry about imho.
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

got your point. But consider that the "estimated" date influences the sales: if i tell you "you're probably gonna have those pieces in 3 months" i will have much more sales than "in 6 months".
I know that most of the kickstarters will finish with a few months of delay... and for that reason i would find more "intellectually honest" saying a more realistic date! not the worst case, but not even the best =)

still:
I just want my stuff.

Here we go again...  lol

You are obviously bothered by the delay.  In fact, I daresay you are completely hung up on it when it comes to this Kickstarter.  People defend them because crap happens.  Even to "professionals".  And some of us are as bothered by the continual attacks as you are by the defense.  Weird, huh?  I didn't chime in until you felt the need to call them liars for missing and ESTIMATED SHIP DATE.  We had a bit of a culture/language issue on that one though, I think.  Or, maybe not:

still:
Now who is being "intellectually honest"?  I doubt it is you.  I don't recall ever seeing anyone, ever, say they backed the KS because they would have their minis quickly.  Some said that the estimated ship date fit nice for them and their hobby plans, but never anyone who said the only reason they backed was the ship date.  Everyone backed because Reaper was offering a shedload of miniatures for a ridiculously low price.

I know you are frustrated by the delay, and I understand that.  I was too.  I didn't, however, feel the need to attack everyone at Reaper and anyone who defended them. Full disclosure: I have mine now, and am extremely happy with them.  See a few pages back for a paint/primer test.

No one with even a little experience with manufacturing (or Kickstarters, for that matter) expected this to ship at exactly the estimated date with absolutely no issues anywhere in the entire, complicated, process.  THAT is unrealistic.

I see this on your blog:

I’ve a so-dead-deadline with Resina Planet...

Does that mean there is some sort of delay in the project you are working on with them?

Edit: Removed the bad words.  Thought there was a filter, my bad.

eMills.

I've read only half of your post, and apparently you can't keep offensive sentences out of this forum. I think you should consider that the tones here on LAF are usually different.

You are just... inappropriate.

What, exactly, did you find offensive?  A couple of the words that I used?  Those have been edited out (and sorry, I honestly thought there was a filter here that would take care of them).

I encourage you to read it all and discuss.

actually, i didn't even noticed the bad words. And that's definitely not the reason why i found (and i still find) that post offensive.
Besides, i don't want to start a polemic about the netiquette in LAF. I'm quite used to defend (strongly , sometimes) my opinions here, but... with other tones.

beside of that, i get your point, even if not well-expressed, and i agree: nobody expected that date and it's normal that the order was delayed.

my point is: i think that "normal" doesn't always mean "fair". People says that it is, i don't. That's all.

I would like to conclude the discussion now, if it's ok for you. Nobody (neither us) wants a flame here ^_^

(for the resinaplanets issue: I've been chatting almost everyday with Oscar, he is now managing an indiegogo campaign and commissioned me other works, so i'm now freezed with that one! And i really suggest all the people to take a look to what he offers... spanish sculptors are just awesome.

(some grammar edit, sorry ^^")

I think the issue for most is that 75%+ have received their's while others are left waiting without any word on how long it will be.
