Dayak Warriors
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:45:29 PM »
I painted these Eureka figures for a friend and fellow LAFFER who supplied some great background material in the form of dozens of images.

I asked him to send the (flimsy) weapons so I could use them as a guide for the steel (spears) and brass (blowpipe) replacements.

Besides the replaced weapons, the feathers, shields and scabbards are all separately cast, so were glued into place before painting could commence.

And below, some larger photos of the finished figures. :)

Splendid work, Ot. I really like those models to, esp. the chap with the blowpipe. I used mine as a amazonian indian, also replacing the hopeless soft tin plowpipe.

Super stuff.  How ridiculously long yet looking just right is that blowpipe?  I need friends like you

Very nice work! Might the photo references become available, too...?

I wonder if the Dayaks might also work as Southeast Asian tribesmen of centuries ago?

Nice figures, great painting.  The guy with the blowpipe must have some puff!

These are beautiful, my vote on Frothers :D I did have some of the Scheltrum Dyaks and they were ok but these are beauties and show off the sculpting.

I am speechless with admiration and green with envy. My favorite is the spearman with the red bandana, your handling of the fur and feathers on the figures is superb.

Very nice indeed,

A chum has me painting up some of the very same figures.

How did you settle on the patterns for the feathers?

The only 'easy' feather pattern I could find was "White with Yellow tip."

Congratulations,
MW
