Nice, is the spearman a Fireforge body & head with the new Perry french spear-arms? They match up really well....

Exactly so Charlie.
There are several padded sleeve arms in the new Perry HYW French set - they are extremely useful and versatile parts to go with all those bodies in padded gambesons from other sets, Perry, Fireforge and others.

Ah, but is Bob really a Bob?

(Cue Blackadder references)

Nice work Richard.  :-* Don't forget that you'll also need a tent for each retinue, an audience, and a backdrop of castle walls.  :D

 lol lol lol

We should call you Not-so-Silent INSTIGATOR.

Would these retinues be used in game play or assembled for the mere pleasure of it?

I do like that archer - very dynamic, I'll have to see if I can recreate something similar. I haven't tried putting perry arms on the Fireforge bodies yet - but they look very effective. Some of the Fireforge armies are little spaghetti like.

Sweet. Your green stuff work is very good. You're got, if you allow me, ahaha, 'green hands'.

Thanks Peder  :)

And now a slight diversion, included here for the record...
It's another Fireforge knight, this one in the livery (ish) of Simon De Montfort, as portrayed on the front of Lion Rampant. More or less...
Sadly, this one won't be joining my collection. I have painted him for fellow LAFer Oldgamer, in exchange for a generous batch of spare Fireforge cloaks and shields, which will facilitate further kitbashing of my own!
The lion rampants are done freehand.

:)

Lovely work, Richard.
Your 'fixer' should be most appreciative, I reckon.
 :-*

I think that if I was ever going to be going down the 'horses in skirts' route, I would opt for these Fireforge chaps.
They do come out rather nice when assembled.

They do. And they're easy to paint too.
It's just a bit of a shame about the horse heads... These caparisoned ones are slightly banana-shaped. By no means awful... But just not quite right. And the ones without caparisons look a bit too skull-like.
On the whole, I now tend to fit Perry horse heads onto my Fireforge horses. But this is what Oldgamer sent me, so this is what he's getting :)

Superb painting.

One question (and I am curious not being picky) should the lion on the right hand side be facing forward?

Very well done. :-* :-*
You have to paint one for your collection, Richard. :)
A very efective heraldy.
