I think even in comparison with your work on your other thread Captain that Sir Bouchant is possibly your best yet. Like the mud effect too.

IIRC, later. 1230's or thereafter.

Yes, that's my view too. No full helms before 1190s at the very earliest, and then only possibly the odd magnate. First evidence I can think of offhand is the one shown on Richard the Lionhearts Great Seal of 1198. I would tend to agree that it had disappeared from the battlefield by 1400, but variants remained for the joust.

Lovely conversions Richard  :-*

Sir Robert Montfichet is finished

And Sir Renaud de Brassey

With Sir Bouchant de Moule en melee...

Three more on the painting table... Then I'll be ready to ride down some riff-raff  ;)

Terrific brushwork Richard. There certainly is some character and charm in these miniatures.

Cheers,

Helen

Oh loving the last one but I have to admit that Sir Robert Montfichet looks a tad gimpy.

Then I'll be ready to ride down some riff-raff  ;)

Yep, Sir James de Bibbly's retinue certainly have the air of riff raff about them ;) lol

Excellent stuff, will look forward to seeing them thunder across the table  :)

Thanks all.
James - your riff-raff are doomed  >:D

what's the white recipie 8)

It's the new GW 'Ushabti Bone' with various amounts of white added for the highlights. It's basically bleached bone, but a whisker deeper toned.

Oh loving the last one but I have to admit that Sir Robert Montfichet looks a tad gimpy.

Henceforth, he shall be known as Sir Robert the Gimpy  :)
Doing my best here with the raw material...  ;)
Potentially, the GW head doesn't help, although I must say I quite like it. Several of the right arms in the box are just weirdly posed and don't look quite natural, whichever way you attach them. As mentioned above, Perrys these ain't. But I do agree with Helen, they do have a certain charm, and are certainly no worse than a lot of metal medievals out there.

More to follow soon. I need to do at least half a dozen of these before I can get back to the main job in hand - more Wars of The Roses!  :D
