Zombie South: Zombies meet the Old West
« on: July 31, 2012, 05:47:41 PM »
Hi, I'm currently writing my own ruleset called "Zombie South". The game is intended to be a fast play skirmish comparable with LOTOW but with an alternating initiative system. Zombie South is set in 1865 when a zombie outbreaks brutally ends the american civil war (well, he's still going on but on a much smaller scale).  The factions involved are currently the looners, survivors which can be hired by several factions except the undead faction of course! These character range from gamblers to prospectors, rustlers, trappers ,... The undead which have a variety of zombie types and creatures involving moghuls (infected coyotes and wolves). New factions will be the confederates, new union army and others.

Just created this thread to keep in track with it all  ;)

Thanks for the interest! The current ruleset is 34 pages including statistics for 4 types of zombies and 10 looners including Jedediah Smith and Old Poor Joe!  lol They still need text correction and lot of solo, team playtesting not mentioning I need to find a good zombie artist who's willing to share some of his work for the ruleset.

Here's the current statistic for Jedediah Smith, trapper.

Thanks! Forgot to mention I'm also aiming to include several scenarios to play. Some of your models could also be used in the game.

Jed Smith is my favorite historical mountain man.  Good to see him get some love in a fictional genre.
This is my boomstick!

Hi, Jed Smith will see some good action but I doubt it will be historical correct  ;)

I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Thanks, still need to rewrite some of the melee rules and then play test some ready to go scenarios.  ;)

Hi, all I have just finished some new loner statistics and decided to do only two factions just to make sure these two factions are well balanced and tested. The two factions are the loner which now also include a character called Mad Bill Johnson an experienced zombie hunter and Francis McGuire, an Irish priest.  More news will hopefully follow soon!  ;)

The current 34 pages draft version including rules for ramming enemies with steam driven contraptions and horse driven vehicles, artwork seen in the pictures is not the definitive one  ;)

It has been a year now since the initial post and I have managed to edit to rules but failed to thoroughly playtest them. I however purchased some western miniatures and will playtest the rules during the summer break hoping to release them within some months on the Wargame Vault. The rules has been tweaked but more playtesting is needed to ensure a decent game system.

Thanks for the interest you've shown it made me start again  :)
