I hope this is planting the idea seeds for some skilled modeler to make either a flying head and organs or a decapitated man carrying his head

A modeler I am not...  I would rather just pay for the work...

You know, the Chinatown range that Amazon Miniatures sell used to include something vaguely like your Penanggalan. I say "vaguely" because I can't remember quite what it looked like, and it appears to be gone from the webstore now. Don't remember what it was called, either :(

After all our talks about flying heads (or the Penanggalan) as seen in "Witch of the Flying Head", "Mystics of Bali" & "Hellboy Sword of Storms", I was disappointed to find that the Chintown figure of this model is out of print and very difficult to find now.

So I decided to try to make one.  I bought some "Sculpty" baked some random organ bits (heart, lung, intestines) and a head base.  Then I added a little more sculpty with hair and eyes.  Superglueing all the bits together.  Hot gluing it to a base with a bended paperclip and giving it a rough paintjob.  I need to detail the base further but I'm happy.

It might look a little rough but it fits the need.

It also gave me the chance to make an impaled head on a stick a mysterous human-sized shipping crate and a few skulls.  I do love "Sculpty" for those great little terrain pieces.  I've been meaning to make a miniature Cthulhu idol too.

I updated and detailed my original 1st post of general Cthulhu scenario ideas.

If you have any more let me know and I'll add them to the main list.

I don't quite know how to answer that one........

My head is now full of very disturbing images. Must watch both series of "The League Of Gentlemen" [ and the Christmas special] to get myself back to normal again

Regarding the Chinatown mini from Stone Circle Games, yes, there were two different pennangalan models, I believe. I know I have one of them lying around somewhere, and if I can find it I'll post up a photo. Can't seem to find one on the Internet anywhere. But I'll tell you they do crop up on eBay from time to time -- that's where I got mine, about two years ago.

Here are links to painted examples on CMON.

In my delvings of lost and forgotten eldrict data, I discovered this lovely document which appeared very useful for designing ideas and themes for not only rpgs but for wargames.

Anyway, I saved a copy and thought I'd share it with my brethren....
