AAR FUBAR - A broken blue line
« on: August 05, 2012, 01:51:00 AM »
Well, I played the game, and completely forgot to take photos during, but I have plenty of post trauma photos.  I learned that one does not set up a scenario where one is outnumbered about 2 1/2 to one, counting townsfolk but not children, and then play Zulu Dawn as background.  It affects your dice negatively.

The Tusken came in, 50 strong with all 5 Oxen Cannon, and both Trolls, against 20 Norwegian 1st, with 2 light cannon, 2 Machine Guns, and 2 Valkyrie II Ornithopters, and about 15 townsfolk.  The First held fairly well, but was not able to stop enough of them.  Highlights were the lucky shot by an Ox cannon that took out a mountain gun, and a second that dropped an ornithopter, and the Sersjant who stood toe to toe with a Troll for 3 full activations, and was still alive when we quit.

View from the Tusken end...

We left the dead where they fell, and used counters for suppression.

You can't take me!  I'm Norse!

Machine guns are great numbers equalizers, but there wasn't quite enough.

The townies defend their liquor stash.

And another angle on our intrepid sersjant...

When we quit, the Tusken had 25 Raiders, 2 Oxen, and 1 Troll - to the untouched townsfolk, and 4 infantry, 2 sersjants, 1 ornithopter, and 2 machine guns.  Vicious little battle.

Great AAR. I really like your table top scenery and what you've done with the Tuskens. Keep up the good work!

Oh wow.  That's a LOT of dead...

Weirdly, my last few FUBAR games have come to a decisive conclusion after maybe ten casualties a side.  I must need to play larger games.

We played for about 2 1/2 hours on this one, between beers and watching the movie in the background.  We are still learning the nuances of the rules, so it can take a while.  That's why we weren't really using any specialized stuff.

Thanks - I am actually having to force myself to quit buying them, or I would probably get up over a hundred...of course, I could maybe justify if I do it slowly, just 20 or so at a time, and then I could do the really overwhelming force battles.

Almost everyone in my group plays the GW games, and one of them told me I should use the latest imperial guard list for my tusken, and call the Banthas Leman Russ tanks, which I might work out a list just so I can play with the guys I know, but I much prefer FUBAR.

What a great looking game.  Love the battlefield and your use of the star wars minis.

Great looking game. I really like the use of Tusken raiders for Martians. I have some of those myself. Really do need to get down there and meet up some time.

You could always mail those to me, if you're not using them.   ;D

I am quite pleased with how they look on the field.
