I started this Monster over the weekend.

He is only a work in progress at the moment. what do you think so far?

Very cool.  I'd buy that.  Rootish 'feet' would look better imo.

Personally I'd say that looks pretty dang cool as it is.  I guess a lot of sculpting is knowing when to stop and this guy has just enough groovy little details without coming across as too busy.  Anyway, sign me up for one!

Oh, absolutely.  I wouldn't want to overwork it, and right now it's got just the right blend of detail and character in the pose, without getting too busy.

If there's a fault amongst some modern sculpts these days, it's that one or two sculptors are so very accomplished at their art they fill a miniature with loads of exquisite detail, at the cost of leaving the poor painter with little space to express him- or herself.  It's not all that new, I know; there are old WD articles that talk about getting rid of detail to make room for the painting.
